๐ฅต Heat-Related Illness โ Know the Signs and What to Do โ๏ธ
Everybody is at risk of heat-related illness โ especially during extreme heat. Recognising symptoms early can save lives. ๐ฅ Common heat-related illnesses include:
๐ง Dehydration โ dizziness, tiredness, irritability, dark urine.
๐ What to do: Drink water (avoid alcohol and caffeine), move to a cool place, and rest.
๐ช Heat Cramps โ painful muscle cramps, heavy sweating.
๐ What to do: Stop activity, rest in the shade, drink fluids, and gently stretch affected muscles.
๐ Heat Exhaustion โ pale skin, fatigue, dizziness, nausea, rapid heartbeat.
๐ What to do: Move to a cool place, take a cool shower or sponge bath, sip water, and seek help if recovery is slow or vomiting occurs.
๐จ Heatstroke (Medical Emergency) โ confusion, hot dry skin, fainting, vomiting, or collapse.
๐ What to do: Call Triple Zero (000) immediately. Move to a cool place, remove excess clothing, cool the body with damp cloths or fanning. Give small sips of water only if conscious.
Stay hydrated, stay cool, and check in on others โ especially children, the elderly, and vulnerable people. ๐
