💜 Purple Day – Epilepsy Awareness

Purple Day raises awareness about epilepsy and encourages understanding within our community. Epilepsy affects people of all ages, and greater awareness helps reduce stigma and supports those living with the condition.

Many people with epilepsy lead full, active lives with the right management and support. Knowing how to recognise a seizure and how to respond safely can make a real difference.

For questions about epilepsy or general health concerns, call 4981 8800.

👩‍⚕️ What is a GP Registrar?

You may notice that our practice has GP Registrars working with our doctors. We’d like to explain what this means for our patients.

A GP Registrar is a fully qualified doctor who is undertaking additional specialist training to become a General Practitioner (GP). Registrars have already completed their medical degree and hospital training and are now gaining further experience in general practice.

While working at our clinic, GP Registrars:
✔️ Consult with patients just like our other doctors
✔️ Are supervised and supported by our experienced GPs
✔️ Participate in ongoing education and specialist training

Having Registrars in our practice helps train the next generation of GPs while continuing to provide high-quality care to our community.

Thank you for supporting medical education and helping future GPs gain valuable experience in community healthcare. 💙

🦷💙World Oral Health Day😬🦷

Your mouth plays a vital role in your general health. Poor oral health has been linked to conditions such as heart disease, diabetes complications, and respiratory illness. Preventive care is key.

Simple steps like brushing twice daily, flossing, reducing sugary foods, and attending routine dental visits can significantly reduce your risk of dental and medical issues.

Our team is here to support your whole‑body health including your oral health! If you wish to speak with your GP, call us on 4981 8800 or book online. https://automedsystems.com.au/ams/clinics/8848/health-in-abundance-medowie-2318/doctors

🌿 Coeliac Awareness Week (13th-20th) 🍞

Coeliac is an autoimmune condition that affects the small intestine and can lead to a wide range of symptoms if left untreated.

Coeliac disease is more common than many people realise, yet many individuals remain undiagnosed. Early recognition and proper medical assessment are key to improving long‑term health outcomes.

If you have ongoing symptoms or concerns, please speak with one of our clinicians. We’re here to support you with assessment, guidance, and ongoing care.

World Kidney Day🤍

Kidney disease often develops gradually and may not cause noticeable symptoms in the early stages, making regular check‑ups especially important. If you have risk factors such as diabetes, hypertension, or a family history of kidney disease, monitoring your kidney function is particularly important.

Protecting your kidney health supports your overall wellbeing. If you’d like to discuss your risk or arrange a check‑up, please contact us or book online.

🏃🏼Melanoma March🌞

Regular skin checks play an important role in protecting your health. Keeping track of any changes and knowing what to look for can help with early detection. The ABCDEFG guide is a useful reminder: Asymmetry, Border, Colour, Diameter, Evolving, and Funny‑looking spots.

Most adults are encouraged to have a full skin check with their GP at least once a year. If you have fair skin, a family history of skin cancer, or a history of frequent sunburns, you may require more frequent reviews depending on your individual risk factors.

Early detection saves lives. To book your skin check, please call 4981 8800 or book online via our website.
