Practice managers carry more than most people see.
Three things they often carry alone:
1. Staffing pressure
Recruitment gaps, performance management, rostering, conflict, and morale. Practice managers are expected to hold the team together while still delivering operational outcomes.
2. Compliance responsibility
Accreditation, policies, audits, risk, and documentation. When something goes wrong, it often sits on one desk, not shared across the system.
3. Business performance expectations
KPIs, budgets, utilisation, complaints, growth targets. They are expected to protect the business while supporting people.
This is not a workload problem.
It is a support structure problem.
Strong clinics do not rely on individual resilience.
They build systems that support leadership.
