Today we join our community in marking the International Day of People with Disability, celebrating the strengths, rights and voices of people with disability.

This year’s theme, “Fostering disability-inclusive societies for advancing social progress”, reflects exactly why Heed Care Disability Services exists – to serve our community by creating support that is inclusive, respectful and genuinely person-centred.

From My Heart to Yours 💚 on National Carers Week 2025.

Heed Care isn’t just a name — it’s a story, my family’s story. I cared for my dad when he was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND), and through that journey, I saw life from every side of care.

I watched my mum’s quiet strength as she gave everything of herself to look after him. I saw my brother, still finding his feet, trying to balance hope, fear, and responsibility. And I learned firsthand what it means to feel overwhelmed yet determined to give your loved one the best care possible.

That experience changed me forever. It taught me that care is not just about helping someone move, eat, or rest — it’s about listening, understanding, and showing up, day after day, with kindness and respect.

That’s why I started Heed Care — to make sure other families never have to face that journey alone. We’re here to support you, walk beside you, and remind you that even in the hardest times, you are not alone.

This morning, we had the opportunity to attend a Kids Helpline session at work—a powerful reminder of just how important this service is for young people across Australia.

Behind every call, message, or chat is a child or teen reaching out for support—and thankfully, there's always someone on the other end ready to listen, guide, and care.

Kids Helpline is often the first safe space for young people facing challenges like anxiety, bullying, family issues, or simply feeling lost. It’s available 24/7, free and confidential—but it relies on community support to keep going.
