Most of my patients know I’m obsessed with golf.

It’s frustrating. It’s humbling. It keeps you honest.

And this week, after years of improving my game, I won my club championship (B Grade).

It reminded me of my early years in medicine. Nothing worthwhile happens quickly. You put in the work. You stay patient. You keep showing up.

And sometimes… you get your moment. Yay! 🏆

I’ve been a doctor for a long time now, mostly in women’s health and fertility.

What’s changed the most for me over the years is realising the difference between treating a condition and actually helping someone heal.

For me, it all comes back to connection, the trust, the rapport and really knowing the person in front of you. That’s what makes this work meaningful.

These aren’t just accolades. This is national recognition of what happens when community, care and cultural connection come together. Rahma Health is showing us what women’s healthcare can look like when it’s built on trust, understanding and heart, especially for Arabic-speaking families.

I had the honour of collaborating with Rahma on their antenatal video series as a Rahma volunteer clinician. Create’s Jonno Lindsay was also an Advisory Board Member.

But today isn’t about us, it’s about them.

They’ve shown the rest of Australia how to lead with purpose, and why culturally meaningful healthcare matters.

Congratulations to the incredible Rahma team. What you’re building is powerful, and it’s only the beginning 🌿✨
