As one year draws to a close and another opens, wishing you peace, health, meaningful connection, thriving relationships and good times in abundance for 2026. For those who know me, you know I love a bit of years' end reflection. Whether 2025 was hard, fantastic or a mixed bag for you there's sure to have been much to remember, let go of, grow from and more. Offering a few prompts for you here, to either think or journal on, maybe even talk over, take your pick. You might prefer to explore at length or respond in rapid fire, up to you:
*If your year, 2025, was a movie or book title, what would it be?
*What did you learn about yourself in 2025?
*What are you most proud of from this year?
*What are you most grateful for....and why?
*What do you hope to leave behind?
*What do you hope to carry forward with you into the new year?
*What are you most excited to learn, start, create or expand in 2026?

Joy is often the medicine we most need and yet, for so many reasons (including a nervous system stuck in fight or flight) can be so hard to have. Authentic relational connection, to meet all parts of a person's experience, the dark and the light, provides a necessary and powerful bridge back from the impacts of trauma and towards receiving more joy. While research gives evidence to this, daily I see real life evidence first hand in my practice, that amongst other things: heart centred connection between people supports movement towards spaces where joy can be experienced to be welcome again. When this happens, healing can start. This is both the privilege and central intention of the work I do and love.

Have you ever tried RAIN - a simple response anyone can learn and make use of - for meeting and processing difficult emotions and pain. I regularly draw on this practice when supporting others and myself, too. Without exception after even just 5 - 10 minutes of RAIN, I see (and experience) a transformation after this practice. That transformation is regularly described as a feeling of softening or relief, a return to the self and a more hopeful, peaceful state of heart and mind. The spin off benefit, is that from this calmer state we are generally more able to see and consider all options clearly, especially helpful in making decisions or plans for what most supports you. The other benefit is the way this work can support better, kinder, more connected relationships with others. If you'd like to learn more or experience this process with the supportive guidance of a therapist, please DM me here. Acknowledging the origins of this work in Buddhist principles and traditions and particularly the work of Tara Brach. Her guided meditations in this area are such a beautiful entry point to incorporating mindful and compassionate practices into the every day, supporting response of self love and kindness when challenging emotions arise for you.

There is no right or wrong way to grieve and the way you express your grief is unique to you and each particular loss itself. Try not to be afraid of your grief...knowing that
grief can, and will, come in waves of varied power and proportions, in expected and less expected swells. Just like waves in the ocean, when waves of grief arrive you might cop a big dumping or even ride the movement with a sense of peace or awe, experiencing the connection to your missed loved one, a wave can bring. If you are grieving, wishing you safe travels, good supports and time and space to be with and meet, even the beauty, in your grief. https://www.instagram.com/reel/DMvyuUKIck5/?igsh=MWU3MmlheTdvZ2IydA==

The last few months there have been a number of themes popping up in the therapy space that are well supported in ideas here....I wonder, which of these, if any, most speak to you?

Acknowledging those carrying a tender grieving heart this Mothers Day. Whether you have lost Mum, lost your child, are facing unfulfilled dreams of becoming a Mum or perhaps of never having known the love or even presence of your own Mother in your life, perhaps you are estranged from your child or Mother. ♡ With love to you today as you find ways to honor and care for your grieving heart, knowing you are not alone ♡ It's my hope that perhaps some of these resources and the 3 tips for 'self mothering' offered here by Consulting might be of some help. Also a reminder of this great resource here in Australia: for resources and phone support https://griefline.org.au/

Just like all relationships, your relationship to the innerworld, to your 'Self', your mind, your soul even...can benefit from certain conditions, care and nurturance to be at its best. How do you and will you support, nurture and care for your mind today, this weekend, this month? You might not only consider the activities, people and places that nourish but also those you could reduce in protective care, particularly in the lead up to one of the busiest times of the year.
