Late fees. Forgotten subscriptions. Impulse buys you didn't plan for. Sound familiar?

That's the ADHD tax and it's very real.

shares people with ADHD often face a hidden financial burden that has nothing to do with bad habits and everything to do with how their brain is wired. Executive dysfunction makes it harder to track deadlines, manage time, and stay on top of the small admin tasks that quietly drain your bank account.

It's not laziness. It's not carelessness. It's neuroscience.

If this resonates with you or someone you love save this for later or send to them to share the knowledge.

Preparing for a trek means more than just picking a trail; it’s about conditioning your body to handle the terrain and preventing avoidable injuries.

Whether you’re a seasoned hiker or planning your first major trek, taking a proactive approach to your physical prep can be the difference between a successful summit and a painful recovery.

We’ve put together 3 evidence-based tips to help you stay injury-free and get the most out of your adventure:

✅ Train appropriately: Aim for a structured 6-8 week conditioning block focusing on calf/hip strength and single-leg balance drills to build resilience.

✅ Avoid common errors: Steer clear of "classic" mistakes like debuting brand-new boots on a main trek or rushing your descents, which puts extra strain on your joints.

✅ Use correct equipment: Incorporate trekking poles to reduce downhill knee forces and keep your pack weight below one-quarter of your total body weight.

Save this before your next hike or send this to someone going soon! 👉

Thinking about your first therapy session? Here's what to expect 🛋️

Dr Venetia Leonidaki shares everything you need to know about your first therapy appointment, straight from our Health Hub.

🔍 "Is the first therapy session an assessment?"

Yes. It's a opportunity for your therapist to understand what brought you to therapy, learn about your background, and begin thinking about how they can support you.

🔍 "What questions will a therapist ask in the first session?"

They'll build a picture of your situation, what's brought you to therapy now, how long difficulties have been present, what you've tried, and what you hope therapy might help with. You can say if there are areas you're not ready to discuss.

🔍 "Will we talk about goals or next steps in the first session?"

Often, yes. Many therapists use the first session to begin clarifying what you'd like to achieve, how often you might meet, and what ongoing work could look like.

🔍 "How do I know if my first therapy session went well?"

There's no single definition. Many people notice feeling listened to, respected, and leaving with a sense of clarity. Feeling tearful or unsettled doesn't mean it went badly, therapy can bring things to the surface.

🔍 "What happens after your first therapy appointment?"

You may arrange a follow-up or take time to reflect. Many therapists suggest giving yourself 24–48 hours before deciding on ongoing sessions. Future sessions usually explore the themes raised in more depth.

🔍 "What if I'm unsure whether the therapist is right for me?"

That's completely normal. It helps to reflect on whether you felt emotionally safe, whether the therapist seemed attentive, and whether you could imagine gradually building trust over time.

Save this before your first session 🔖 or share with someone taking that first step 💙

ADHD is so much more than not being able to focus 🧠 Here's what's really going on.

Here's everything you need to know about ADHD and mental health, straight from our Health Hub.

🔍 "What does adult ADHD really look like?"

ADHD is more than hyperactivity and distractibility. When the brain's control centre isn't functioning as it should, it affects emotions and overall wellbeing leading to poor focus, overwhelm, impulsivity, forgetfulness, restlessness, and mental fatigue.

🔍 "How does ADHD affect emotional regulation?"

The ADHD nervous system uses more energy just to maintain focus and stay engaged, leaving less available for managing emotions. This can cause strong emotional reactions, frustration, and exhaustion. The harder a person pushes to keep up, the more overwhelmed they can feel.

🔍 "Can ADHD increase anxiety or low mood?"

Yes. Everyday tasks like planning, remembering, or starting work require constant conscious effort for people with ADHD, creating high levels of stress. Over time, always feeling like you're falling short can lower self-worth and contribute to depressive symptoms.

🔍 "How does ADHD impact relationships?"

People with ADHD often struggle with communication, intense emotional outbursts, and frequent conflict. Forgetfulness is commonly mistaken for a lack of care, leaving many feeling misunderstood — and sometimes withdrawing as a way to cope.

🔍 "What daily life challenges are common in adults with ADHD?"

Staying organised and maintaining daily routines is genuinely harder with ADHD. Pushing through by 'trying harder' often leads to mental exhaustion. Difficulty starting tasks can trigger a sense of failure, intense emotions, and decision paralysis.
