All Abilities Day has come to a close.
Over the past few days, I’ve taken some time to reflect, and the strongest takeaway is simple, gratitude.
To everyone who attended and spent time with us, thank you. Despite Melbourne’s unpredictable weather on the day, your presence, even if only for a short while, contributed to the conversations, connections, and sense of community we set out to create.
To those who reached out unable to attend, your messages were genuinely appreciated. We hope you’re all doing better and look forward to seeing you next time.
To our stallholders Nurse Next Door (Daniel Lawley), Provider Choice (Jamie Banks), Reggie Care Services (Reginald Prasad), Driving Miss Daisy Australia (Sandy Thomas), Guiding Star Disability Services, and Aurora Ebony Care Services, thank you for being part of the day, for the effort you put into showing up, for being patient and engaging with the community. We truly appreciate the role you played.
To our food trucks, vendors and suppliers, thank you for showing up, serving, waiting it out, and sticking with us through the conditions. Days like that are not easy, and we truly appreciate it.
To the providers who attended and supported the day, thank you for taking the time to connect, engage, and be part of the community. We truly value those conversations and look forward to staying connected and building stronger relationships beyond the event.
To our volunteers, led by the amazing Sarah El-Nezami thank you. For standing in the rain, for helping wherever you were needed, for staying present even when things got messy. You carried a big part of the day, and we’re grateful for every single one of you.
Melbourne gave us a bit of everything on the day, but even with that, there were meaningful moments that came out of it. That’s what we’ll carry forward.
This was our first hosted community event and the support, the presence, and the belief in what we’re building meant everything to us.
We’ve taken on the feedback, and we’ll keep building from here.
For now, we just want to say thank you to everyone who supported All Abilities Day in any way. It truly means a lot.
