McNamara Care and Support - MCAS

We are a disability support provider that provides the highest level service to people living with a disability throughout Melbourne.

We are a small business disability support service that values clients as individuals and prioritises building a positive and safe environment that embraces honesty and open communication. What makes us unique is our simplest, yet highest, priority which is for our clients to have fun. We ready our support workers to incorporate being a mentor and friend into their role and we make a great effort

to help our clients have experiences, through events and activities, that they have found challenging to be a part of. Our managing team are highly familiar, both personally and professionally, with the challenges and adversities faced by both people with disabilities as well as their families/ guardians, and therefore approach our work with compassion and empathy, as well as honesty and integrity. Being a small business allows us to dedicate our time towards focusing on clients, tailoring our operations according to their needs. Clients can be reassured that with us, they will be taken seriously, to the extent that each client will have their own case manager and employee/s that are hand-selected for them. Both employees and programs for clients will be organised according to each client’s unique needs.

💙 World Autism Awareness Day 💙

Today we celebrate and honour the incredible souls on the autism spectrum, embracing this year’s theme: “Autism and Humanity - Every Life Has Value.”

It’s a powerful reminder that every person brings something unique to the world, and deserves to be recognised, respected, and included just as they are. 💫

Autism is not something to be changed, but a unique and meaningful way of experiencing the world. At McNamara Care & Support, we are continually inspired by the individuals we support and the authenticity, strength, and joy they bring to each day. 🤩

Let’s continue to grow in understanding and acceptance, and create a world where every person feels valued and like they truly belong! 🌈

✨ Client Spotlight: The Magnificent Ela! ✨

We are so proud to shine a light on the incredible Ela and all the amazing things she’s been up to lately! 💫

Ela has been absolutely thriving in her art classes, even creating and sewing her very own unique pillow, how amazing is that!? 🧵🎨

She’s also been stepping into the world of drama classes, where she gets to dance, act, and play games with a likeminded group. It’s been so special to see her push outside of her comfort zone and embrace something new! 🌟

When she’s not busy being creative, Ela loves a cheeky mani-pedi, always coming up with fun and creative nail designs 💅✨

Ela also enjoys spending time at the park with all the doggos, especially her favourite, Cleo the golden! They have developed a very special bond. 🐶💛

On top of all this, Ela has recently started volunteering, helping arrange and deliver beautiful flower bouquets to elderly homes, as well as volunteering with the Hidden Disabilities Program - spreading kindness and making a meaningful impact in her community 💐💖

Ela, you’re doing amazing things, we love to see it! 🌈✨

🌟 Participant Spotlight: Rayyan 🌟

Today we’re shining the spotlight on the wonderful Rayyan, a true family man at heart! 🥰

Rayyan loves nothing more than jumping in the car for a scenic drive, cruising along while listening to his favourite music 🎶🚗

And of course… the extra special days might include a cheeky stop at Hungry Jack’s - his favourite treat! 🍟👑

With his infectious smile and bright energy, Rayyan has a way of instantly lifting the mood of everyone around him 😊✨

Rayyan also enjoys exploring different parks, spending time out in nature, and winding down with his favourite videos on his phone 🍃🍂

Alongside all of this, he has been doing an amazing job building his independence skills, and it’s been so rewarding watching his confidence grow each day 🙌✨

Rayyan, you’re an absolute pleasure to support and we love being part of your journey! 🤩

Today is a powerful reminder of the value of inclusion and empowerment, and of building a community where everyone feels they belong. We’re grateful to walk alongside the remarkable individuals we support and to celebrate everything they contribute. ✨

Thank you to our participants, families, guardians and support assistants - your strength and positivity guide us toward a more inclusive future more and more everyday.

✨ Participant Spotlight: Brett! ✨

We’ve loved seeing Brett make the most of his passions and interests lately!

🏉 A huge Essendon fan, Brett spent this season cheering on his team at several games, and even watched the Grand Final with his support assistant Josh - a highlight he absolutely loved! ❤️🖤

🌆 Brett recently visited the Eureka Skydeck, taking in the incredible views from one of Melbourne’s most iconic spots.

🎉 When it comes to games and fun, Brett is in his element! He never misses his weekly bingo, is a big fan of the TV show Lingo, and has been loving monthly music bingo - combining two of his favourite things in one.

We’re so proud of Brett for getting out, exploring new experiences, and embracing the things that make him happy. Keep shining, Brett! 😁🌟

🌴☀️ Vaughan’s been living it up in Cairns! ☀️🌴

He and his support assistant Josh recently headed north for a holiday packed with adventure, relaxation, and plenty of good food.

From exploring the magical Daintree Rainforest and cooling off at Mossman Gorge, to soaking up the sun at the beach, this trip had it all! 🏖️🌿

They turned up the fun with a bit of white water rafting, some friendly competition at bowling, and even whipped up some seriously good looking burgers 🍔🔥 (chef skills on point Vaughan!).

Of course, no holiday is complete without plenty of delicious meals and coffee breaks along the way. ☕

What an awesome little vacay, thanks for letting us share the ride Vaughan! 🙌✨

Today is a reminder that checking in with one another truly matters.

Asking “Are you okay?” can look different for everyone, it might be a chat, a text, a picture, or simply sitting together. For someone who is non-verbal, it could mean using a communication device, offering choices, noticing body language, or being present with patience and care.

No matter how we connect, what matters most is showing kindness and listening with compassion.

Together, let’s keep building a community where every voice is respected, and no one feels alone. 🤝✨

✨ Farewell & Thank You Ani ✨

It’s not easy to say goodbye to such a valued member of our MCAS team. Over the past three years, Ani has brought so much heart, compassion, and dedication to their role as a Support Assistant. 💫

They’ve built wonderful connections with participants, guardians, and our team, and it’s been such a joy to see the way Ani has empowered people to reach their goals while always standing up for equality and inclusion. 👥

As Ani takes the next step in their journey as a Social Worker, we have no doubt they’ll continue to make an incredible difference in the lives of others. 🤩

Ani, you will be deeply missed. Thank you for all that you've contributed to MCAS, we’re cheering you on every step of the way! 🌟💙

Disability Pride is about visibility, acceptance, and empowerment - not just this month, but every day. It’s a time to celebrate the strength, resilience, and achievements of the disability community, and to keep challenging outdated attitudes and barriers.

As beautifully described, disability pride means “accepting and honouring each person’s uniqueness and seeing it as a natural and beautiful part of human diversity.” 💜

🌟 What’s New In Hithi's World? 🌟

It’s been a season of growth, exploration, and plenty of joyful moments for Hithi! 🍂🍃

From enjoying peaceful autumn walks, to discovering a newfound love for FROYO 🍦(who can blame him!?), Hithi has been soaking up the little joys in life while still stepping out of his comfort zone -including giving DJ'ing a go! 🎧

He’s also been kicking some serious independence goals lately, taking on everyday tasks such as laundry and grocery shopping - Go you good thing! 💪👏

But the highlight of it all? That bright, beaming smile that lights up every room he enters. 😄💛

Keep shining, Keep smiling - Hithi you’re an inspiration to us all! 🥰🌟

Luke’s been smashing goals left, right and centre! 😁✨

From personal milestones to learning new skills, we are so proud of how far he’s come. 👏

Lately, Luke’s been working magic in the kitchen, he started out with some fun baking adventures! Everything from cookies to brownies, all of which he generously shared with his family & support assistants. 👨‍👩‍👦‍👦

And when it comes to his all-time favourite food, Pizza! Chef Luke has taken things to the next level, mastering the art of making his own delicious creations from scratch! 🍕

Keep up the amazing work Luke, we can’t wait to see what's in store for you next! 🙌💫
