My Story
For too long, the world of personal finances has been allocated to the domain of maths only – and yet the reality is that money is so much more than that. My name is Danielle Brophy and I am passionate about bringing financial psychology and personal development into strategic discussions around money.
I have spent over 15 years in the accounting and financial planning industries and in that time I have become both a Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA) and a Certified Financial Planner (CFP). Still, I am extremely proud to call myself a Financial Coach. You see, so many times I have noticed people not only struggling with knowing what to do, but also often needing assistance with what is ‘getting in the way’.
I do very much feel that my work has somewhat come full circle. This is because I actually decided way back in my early teens that I wanted to ‘help people with their money’ – but I actually started out with something more in mind that what a CPA or CFP traditionally does. You see, I had seen the struggles that my own family had endured and I had the insight that money can be a reflection of our relationship with our selves (yes, even then – you can learn fast when you need to!). Of course, at that young age I didn’t put it into those words, but I knew something so deeply, that I think many people still don’t know – that how you think and feel about money can permeate every single aspect of your life. Those ripple effects can be positive or negative, depending on your relationship with your money and yourself as a whole.
And while I did go on to study Psychology, and have certainly spent many years in the world of finance, ultimately, with the Money Wellbeing team, I have come back to my own personal truth – that I want every person that I work with to know, feel and have ‘enough’. I believe that it is entirely possible to align your money and financial goals with what you love the most and who you want to be in the world. It is possible to both strive towards bigger goals and feel a sense of peace with where you are at in the moment. With the power of a growth and abundance mindset, regardless of your current financial situation, you always have options - and the possibilities are likely to be far greater than you realize.
