The SMILE Project is a joint effort amongst sleep and mental health experts at the Royal Women’s Hospital and Monash University in Melbourne, and evaluates different approaches to improving sleep for first-time mothers.

Thank you to our Facebook community for helping us spread the word about the SMILE Project! The SMILE Project began in late 2019, and as of December 2020 we have closed our doors to new enrolments.

Are you currently pregnant and due in Feb or March 2021? Are you struggling with your sleep? If so, our team of researchers would love to hear from you, as we are only accepting study sign ups for a couple more weeks!

First-time mothers between 26-32 weeks pregnant are invited to join the SMILE Project, which evaluates different approaches to improving sleep in pregnancy and beyond.

As a part of the project you will be allocated to 1 of 3 sleep programs and receive either:
1. A new ‘smart’ bassinet designed to help baby’s sleep.
2. Sleep information and strategies via email at 6 different times during pregnancy and after your baby is born.
3. A booklet containing sleep information and sleep hygiene.

All aspects of participation are completed from the comfort of your own home via the internet or telephone!

Currently pregnant and struggling with your sleep?😴👶

The SMILE Project is for first-time mothers between 26-32 weeks pregnant, and looks at different approaches to improving sleep in pregnancy and beyond.

As a part of the project you will be allocated to 1 of 3 sleep programs and receive either:
1. A new ‘smart’ bassinet designed to help baby’s sleep.
2. Sleep information and strategies via email at 6 different times during pregnancy and after your baby is born.
3. A booklet containing sleep information and sleep hygiene.

The programs are completely free, and you can receive up to $60 in gift vouchers as a token of thanks for participating.

Lastly, all aspects of participation are completed from the comfort of your own home via the internet or telephone 🏠📱

If you've ever tossed and turned during pregnancy, trying and failing to get some sleep then you're not alone.

It's a frustrating but common problem and can have a significant impact on mothers' wellbeing.

Researchers from The Royal Women's Hospital and Monash University are currently running a project designed to help new mums improve their sleep during pregnancy and after having their baby - and they need your help.

The team at Study for Mother-Infant Sleep (SMILE) are seeking more women to take part in the study, which can be done entirely from home.

Our team of sleep and mental health experts at the Royal Women’s Hospital and Monash University are inviting first-time mothers who are less than 32 weeks pregnant to join our project that evaluates different approaches to improving sleep.😴😴😴

As apart of the project you will be allocated to 1 of 3 sleep programs and receive one of the following:
1. A new ‘smart’ bassinet designed to help baby’s sleep.
2. Sleep information and strategies via email at 6 different times during pregnancy and after your baby is born.

For example, new mothers often face disturbed sleep during late pregnancy, and experience frequent night-time awakenings after baby arrives. Some of these changes can be challenging to new mothers, and can affect their wellbeing. 😴

The SMILE Project evaluates different approaches to improving sleep for first-time mothers who are less than 32 weeks pregnant.
