Feeling nervous about cataract surgery is completely normal – but anxiety that delays treatment can risk further sight loss over time.

It's also worth knowing the toll untreated cataracts can take on daily life. Research shows 83% of people with cataracts struggle with everyday tasks like walking, reading or watching TV, and 26% of these people experience anxiety as a result.* Treatment sooner rather than later makes a genuine difference – not just to your vision, but to your overall wellbeing.

At Vision Hospital Group, we know that good cataract care is about more than the surgery itself. Our surgeons will guide you through your options, explain what's best for your vision, and provide a clear picture of what to expect on the day and throughout your recovery. On the day itself, our team will be with you every step of the way.

We've got you – from your first appointment with us through to your recovery at home.

Big news at Panch Day Surgery! 🎉

We're thrilled to share that we've expanded our surgical offering with the addition of vitreoretinal surgery – retinal surgeon Dr Sky Chew completed Panch's first list last week. After months of preparation, our team is excited to offer this specialised service across Melbourne's northern suburbs.

We're also delighted to welcome Dr Alex Ferdi to our team as a Visiting Medical Officer. An ophthalmic surgeon and medical retina specialist, Dr Ferdi brings a wealth of experience, having trained at two of the world's most respected institutions, Moorfields Eye Hospital in London and Sydney Eye Hospital. Dr Ferdi consults at Sunshine Eye Surgeons and his services include cataract surgery, glaucoma management and intravitreal injections, among others.

It's an exciting time at Panch Day Surgery, and we look forward to continuing to grow the care we provide to our community.

Meet Kylie Bennett – cool, calm, collected, and exactly who you want at the helm of safety.

As our National Quality and Safety Manager, Kylie keeps everyone safe. Here she is demonstrating CPR – just one of her many talents.

Each of our day surgeries is accredited against the National Safety and Quality Health Services Standards, with Kylie leading the charge on all internal processes.

Quality, safety and risk management have always been a priority at Vision Hospital Group. It's why we introduced our In Safe Hands program across all 11 of our day surgery locations.

Our quality systems are robust. But we're always looking to refine and improve, even when we already exceed the standard.

And that’s exactly why we have Kylie.

| If you or someone you know has been diagnosed with glaucoma, understanding your treatment options is an important first step.

Treatment has advanced significantly in recent years. From medicated eye drops and laser procedures to minimally invasive surgical techniques with faster recovery times, there are now more options than ever to help slow or stop glaucoma progression.

Glaucoma, often called the ‘silent thief of sight’, refers to a group of eye conditions that damage the optic nerve, usually due to high pressure within the eye – known as high intraocular pressure (IOP). Left untreated, it can lead to irreversible vision loss. Fortunately, advances in medical...
