I have learnt a lot since becoming a baby doula 7.5 years ago. Oh, so much! Every woman I have supported and every family I have nurtured have taught me golden nuggets of wisdom, but I’ll be honest. Working for yourself and running a biz ain’t no easy thang. However, the growth that has occurred over the last 7.5 years is worth all the tricky biz times. And I’m even more energised, passionate and excited now than I was 7.5 years ago, to show up and nurture people.

I’m so loving where I have landed in how I can and want to show up to nurture others. Nurture Mumma has evolved and will continue to do so in 2026.

The mental load of Remembering!
It’s a heavy one. So let’s trial getting support and sharing this together.

I’ll let you know how I went and I’d love to hear from anyone who gives any of these a try.

Also sing out if anyone wants me to remind them to remember to leave a comment….😅NOT! 😍

Self-care is so many things, and self-care as a parent or busy human looks very different from the typical self-care activities that come to mind for many people.

For me, self-care as a mum is all about finding pockets of time for joy or checking in with yourself.

Dr Oscar Serrallach refers to them as Cue points
These are times in a day when you have no choice but to pause/wait/do nothing.

There are other moments, like the ‘in between’ moments in a day, when we often try to fill them with more To-do stuff, but instead we could claim them back for pockets of joy/self-care/check-ins.

This one is great because we will always need to go to the toilet. So why not use it for a daily check-in with ourselves?

Life is chaotic when you are a Mumma or parent. I know! I’m one too. And the thought of dedicating time to preparing feels like a mountain to climb, requiring a whole week to plan. However, the benefits are so great that the mountain ain’t as rugged to climb as we think.

When we create chunks of time for preparing, we make double if not triple the time for other things like rest, connection, spontaneity, fun, and even just doing nothing.

But this idea can be hard to implement for many, which I understand.

So here are a few ideas to help you get started.

1: Make a date of it for the whole family.

A dedicated hour of power where everyone does something that your future selves will thank you for

2: Body double. Do it with a friend. Batch cook together, clean each other’s houses together. Have an hour of admin power together. Being around people you love and being each other’s hype gals is so helpful. I love this one.

3: Stack it up with something nice.
Like do admin whilst your feet soak in a foot bath. Or take yourself out for a coffee and do life emails/make appointments. Or sit in nature and sunshine whilst you do mundane tasks like folding laundry, and have tunes on.

4: Put it in the calendar like it’s any other regular appointment or work block. I know, it feels hard, but you can trial it, honeys. You got this

It’s also about…

🌸Exploring conversation prompts for couples to build connection and a foundation of communication and understanding of each other’s ideas, fears, hopes and stories, so you can perhaps reduce the amount of crunchy disconnected times or at least have tools and ways to reconnect and hear each other in the s**t storms that can and most likely will arise.

🌸It’s workshopping practical ideas to help with the ease and flow of daily family life.

🌸It’s about meal prepping, recipes, and tips to nourish your whole family so you feel more energetic whilst cooking in a way that lightens the load.

🌸it’s about diving into how stews show up for you, the partners and what soothes you both.

🌸It’s about exploring ways to build your village and work with their strengths and your reality, and find a realistic way the village can and will show up for you

🌸It’s about looking at how you feel when it comes to asking and receiving help, and also doing the work to practise setting boundaries.

🌸It’s about having conversations about the mental load now, before it gets too big, and having tools and ways to share the load from the start.

🌸It’s about sprinkling pockets of joy into your lives and making sure both partners get time to fuel their own cups.

🌸It’s about introducing older siblings to new family members.

🌸It’s about ways to nurture your mind and body as it heals.

🌸It’s about how to care for you newborn baby and yourselves and parents.

Preparing for your postpartum is such valuable work, but what many don’t realise is you’re not just exploring, learning, practising and preparing for the first year of life with a new bub, but you’re actually gaining skills, tools and wisdom for many, many other seasons of life as a mother and woman.

Everything I do is about nurturing you. But doing so in whatever unique way that supports you best. this nurture is collaborative. We create it together. I’m like your wing woman. Your merry Poppins. Your personal deep listening ear. Your biggest cheerleader and your fuel to your engine but my intention is always to nurture you in a way that you feel like you can then carry on with nurture in your life after our time together is done.
