I had the opportunity to talk with the beautiful on her podcast Midwife Crisis.

We talked about working as midwives, what we witness, and the birth trauma therapy that I offer to midwives and families.

Birth Trauma Awareness Week

For me, this week isn’t just about raising awareness for the birthing women who carry the invisible wounds of a traumatic birth.
It’s also about acknowledging the caregivers, such as midwives, who witness these moments and quietly carry them too.

Birth trauma can echo through everyone in the room.
It can be held within the body, whether you gave birth or stood by, holding space when things didn’t go as hoped.

If this week brings up memories or feelings for you, whether you’re a mother, a partner, a midwife, or another birth worker, please know you don’t have to hold it alone.

Healing is possible.

Whether it was an unsettling event in your fertility, pregnancy, birth or postpartum journey, support is here when you’re ready,

I see you. I’m here for you.

What support do you need after an event?

Let’s say something traumatic or unsettling happens at work on Monday.
Are you offered space to talk about it before you go home?
What about on your next shift, on Tuesday, is there time set aside by your managers to check in with you?

Is there space to go through what happened, to look at what could be done differently if it happens again?
Is there someone to validate you, to hear your story, and reassure you that you did everything you could?

Or is it just business as usual, never to be spoken about again?

We as midwives deserve better.
We carry so much that stays unseen and unheard.
We deserve space to unpack it, process it, and heal.

I’m a midwife too, I’ve been there.
Now, I offer birth trauma resolution therapy for midwives who need support.
If this resonates with you, reach out when you feel ready, I’d be honoured to support you.

Midwife to Midwife.

I see you.

I know what it’s like to walk out of the birth suite carrying more than just your bag. Carrying the weight of the moments no one else saw.

The silent trauma.
The unsettling moments.
The unspoken fear.

The helplessness you tucked away because you had to move on to the next shift, the next birth, the next family.

And you never got a chance to tell your story, what you saw, what you heard, what you felt.

Did anybody even ask “Are you okay? Do you want to talk about it?”

As a midwife who has lived this, I now offer Birth Trauma Resolution Therapy for midwives, because we need a space of our own.

A space where you are held, heard, and gently guided to release what your nervous system is still holding onto.

Reach out when the time feels right. I’m here and ready to support you.

As midwives, we witness intense, emotional, and often traumatic moments, and we carry them.

Debriefing (when done correctly) can be such a vital part of processing what we have experienced, yet for many of us, it’s not something that is routinely offered.

Does your hospital or employer offer you a debrief after an event?

Is there a formal process, a peer support option — or nothing at all?

Please comment below, I’d love to hear from you:
Are debriefs offered where you work?
What does that look like?
And if it’s not happening, what kind of support would actually make a difference for you?

Reach out when the time feels right. I’m here and ready to support you.

Midwives, how often have you walked out after a shift feeling like a shell of the person who walked in?
I know that feeling, because I’ve been there too.

I’m a midwife. I’ve sat with families in their most vulnerable moments, held space through joy and heartbreak, and walked out of birth suites feeling utterly emptied.

And now, as a Birth Trauma Resolution Therapist, I hold space for you, the ones who are always holding everyone else.

We’re working under immense pressure, often unsupported, and absorbing trauma that doesn’t get a chance to be processed.
It’s no wonder so many of us are burning out.

If you’ve ever gone home questioning how much longer you can keep doing this, please know that you are not alone in feeling this.

You’re not broken.
You’re human.
I see you. And I’m here for you.

Reach out when the time feels right. I’m here and ready to support you.

As a midwife, I’ve been there.

I’ve walked out of a birth room wondering why certain decisions were made.

I’ve sat with the uncomfortable feeling that some professionals might have been afraid of birth itself.

I’ve carried those questions home with me, replaying these moments over and over again in my mind.

Birth trauma doesn’t only affect the families we care for, it affects us too.

When the system doesn’t support physiological birth.

When fear drives decisions instead of trust.

When you witness harm, or feel complicit, or powerless to make a change, it can leave a mark.

As a midwife and Australia’s first Birth Trauma Resolution Therapist, I offer a space for you to tell your story.

To unpack the moments that have stayed with you.

To process, heal, and move forward, without the burden of guilt or self-doubt.

Let’s rewrite the story of birth work together, one healing conversation at a time.

Reach out when the time feels right. I’m here and ready to support you.
