The NDIS planning process is set to become fairer, more consistent and easier for participants. This new approach is called New Framework Planning.

It was shaped by feedback from thousands of people with disability, families, carers and providers who said planning needed to improve.

So what’s changing?

✔️ Planning will focus on your disability support needs, not just functional impairment
✔️ A more person-centred, strengths-based approach
✔️ Fairer and more consistent budgets
✔️ Less need for costly reports
✔️ Simpler, more flexible plans

The changes were made possible through updates to the NDIS Act in October 2024, with the NDIA and Department of Health, Disability and Ageing working closely with states, territories and the disability sector.

đź—“ What to expect next
• Public consultation begins in early 2026
• First participants move to the new planning approach from mid-2026
• Changes will be rolled out gradually, many participants won’t notice changes straight away

We’ll be keeping our community informed every step of the way 💙

NDIS housing options can be confusing, so here’s a simple breakdown:
▪️ SIL (Supported Independent Living): everyday support while you live in a shared home
▪️ SDA (Specialist Disability Accommodation): specially designed homes for people with high support needs
▪️ STR (Short-Term Respite) – temporary stays for short breaks or extra support

Our team takes the time to understand your goals, help you choose the right option, and guide you through the application process.
