Understanding NDIS Funding for Home Modifications

The NDIS may fund home modifications that support your disability needs and improve safety or independence. This can include ramps, rails, accessible bathroom changes, widened doorways, and adjustments that improve functional access.

The NDIS does not fund cosmetic renovations, general upgrades, or repairs unrelated to disability needs.

NDIS Update: Music & Art Therapy

The NDIS is introducing a new price limit for music and art therapy — set at $156.16 per hour — starting from 24 November 2025.

This rate applies only to qualified art and music therapists who are registered with professional associations.

The NDIA will also make a clear difference between:
• Therapy (led by trained therapists — still funded)
• Regular art or music activities (not therapy — not funded)

What you should know:

💡 If you currently get these supports, don’t worry — you can continue with your current plan until November 24, 2025.

⚠️ Some therapists say the new rate doesn’t fully cover the costs of their work, but it’s part of the NDIS review to make pricing clearer and more consistent.

❓Do you think this new program will make a difference for families?

On 27 August 2024, the Australian Government announced the Thriving Kids program, a $2 billion initiative to support children with developmental delay and autism.

Starting in July 2026, the program will focus on children under 8 with mild to moderate needs, giving families greater access to early support services.

Children with permanent and significant disability will continue to receive funding and supports through the NDIS.

You may already know the NDIS made a huge change in NDIS Funding called “Funding Periods”.

🤔 What does this mean for you?
❌ You will no longer receive your full NDIS budget at the start of your plan. Instead:

☑️ Your funds will be made available in parts, called Funding Periods.
🔰 For most supports, funds will be released in chunks every 3 months (quarterly).

At My Access Support Services, we align our supports to match these new funding periods—so you stay supported, no matter the cycle.
