They are Electroplated which means a thin layer of precious metal (like gold, silver, or rhodium) is bonded onto a less expensive base metal (like brass or copper) using an electric current. This then creates a durable, attractive finish at a lower cost whuch improves appearance, tarnish resistance, and wearability.
