GSS were invited to host a Gambler's Help information stall at Crown Resorts during Gambling Harm Awareness Week, as part of our continued partnership to support their guests in having a safer, more enjoyable experience. The team at Crown and members of the community made us feel welcome, and we were able to share helpful information about the number of free and confidential services we provide over the two days we were available at the casino.

We have taken the exciting step of changing our name to Gambling Support Service, but our services still deliver the same committed work. Michael Kheirallah, Manager of the Salvos’ Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) Gambling Support Service, says the service has had a big increase in referrals and aims to have a physical presence in many catchment areas of Inner North Melbourne to assist people impacted by gambling harms. We attended the Australian Vietnamese Women's Association - Hội Phụ Nữ Việt Úc event in Kensington last week, to participate in the launch of their new mental health web based application launch and networking event. It highlighted the importance of and need for, a Vietnamese language based, accessible mental health ‘one stop shop’. It was great to hear about all the work being done to support our communities :)
