πŸ… Honouring Excellence: The Julie Finucane OAM Medal 2025 πŸ…

The Julie Finucane Medal celebrates individuals who embody courage, innovation, advocacy, and an enduring commitment to the emergency nursing profession and to CENA.

This year, we proudly recognise Jo Morey - an inspiring emergency nurse, mentor, and leader whose dedication to both the profession and the College has been extraordinary.

Jo began her emergency nursing journey in 1994 at Dandenong Emergency Department and has been a valued CENA member since 2010. Serving as CENA Financial Director since 2017, Jo has strengthened the College’s financial foundation, championed fair recognition for Board Directors, and expanded support for education and administration - ensuring the sustainability and success of CENA for years to come.

Her leadership, mentorship, and unwavering commitment have left a lasting legacy on emergency nursing and the many professionals she has guided and inspired.

πŸ₯ Celebrating Excellence in Emergency Care πŸ₯

Emergency departments are the front door to life-saving care - dynamic, demanding spaces where lives are changed every day. The Australasian Emergency Department of the Year Award recognises teams that innovate, improve, and inspire - advancing emergency care for both their colleagues and the communities they serve.

This year, we proudly congratulate The Queen Elizabeth Hospital Emergency Department, South Australia, as the 2025 Australasian Emergency Department of the Year.

Despite the significant challenge of relocation, this outstanding team has maintained exceptional patient outcomes through evidence-based practice, innovation, and a steadfast commitment to compassionate, patient-centred care. Their multidisciplinary approach has improved satisfaction, reduced waiting times, and fostered a culture of safety through continuous performance monitoring and rapid, 24-hour incident review processes.

πŸ‘ Congratulations to the entire team at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital ED - a shining example of excellence, leadership, and dedication in emergency care.
