AccessCare AccessCare supports people to live independently in their own home and stay active in their community

AccessCare is an experienced provider of home care and support services managed by Kingston City Council in Melbourne. For 30 years, we have supported older people, people with disabilities and people who are homeless. We are dedicated to empowering our clients to continue living independently in their own homes and communities. We have earned a strong reputation for supporting people, including those with complex needs. Through our connection to local council, we have developed an unparalleled amount of industry knowledge and experience, which we use to ensure our clients receive care that addresses their unique and specific needs. In this way, we support our clients to remain in their own homes, surrounded by their pets, garden and community. Our friendly team of Aged Care Advisors is here to provide support, guidance and advice whenever it's needed, so if you have any questions about home care, AccessCare or My Aged Care, please get in touch on 1300 819 200.

๐ŸŽ„We wish our community a very merry festive season and a safe, healthy and happy year ahead with loved ones. Be sure to check in on your neighbours and look out for each other during the holidays and as we head into the warmer months.

What a year we have had on the Community Bus!

Our participants have enjoyed many lunches, day trips, and activities locally and further afield ๐Ÿš

Weโ€™ve sung songs at Morning Melodies, visited museums and beaches, been on scenic tours and eaten at restaurants serving delicious food ๐Ÿ’™

Friendships have been formed, and lots of laughter has been shared.

We wanted to thank our dedicated volunteers, our drivers and all our community members (some of whom are regulars!) for taking part in our social engagement program ๐Ÿ‘

We cannot wait to see what adventures we have on the bus in 2026!

If youโ€™re interested in getting on board our Community Bus, please contact our team on 1300 819 200.

Taking simple steps to stay cool this summer will help protect your well-being and ensure you enjoy the warmer months safely ๐ŸŒž

When the warmer weather comes, be sure to:
- Stay hydrated
- Use cool, wet towels on your skin or dip your feet in cool water
- Close your curtains or blinds early to block out the sun
- Wear loose clothes made from natural fibres

If you need to go outside, make sure you go early to beat the heat and remember to wear a hat and take a bottle of water.

๐Ÿ›’You can also prepare for the heat by planning ahead when you grocery shop or get prescriptions filled.

๐Ÿ If you're able, be sure to check in on your friends and neighbours too!

Waves Leisure Centre is celebrating 30 years! ๐ŸŽ‰

Since opening in 1995, Waves has been a beloved part of the Highett community. Long-standing members like Wilma and Elaine have shared how special this centre is in their lives ๐Ÿ’™

Wilma, who swam at the outdoor Turner Road Pool, now enjoys water fitness classes and light dumbbell exercises to stay active for tennis. Elaine has loved our Active Seniors class since the early 2000s and appreciates the friendships and support she finds here.

To mark the occasion, Waves are holding a celebration event on Saturday 6 December from 1-3pm complete with 1995 entry prices for all customers from 12pm!

With regular programs like swimming and Tai Chi, Waves offers fun ways to stay active and connect with others.

๐ŸŒŠ Are you interested in joining Waves? To find out which classes you might enjoy, call 03 9559 7111 or visit kingstonactive.com.au

Our Story

AccessCare has over 20 yearsโ€™ experience and is run by local Council, so we are deeply connected to the community and can link you with the very best services available. We are known for quality and being able to support the needs of all people. So thereโ€™s no need to swap providers if your needs increase, as our qualified consultants will continue to adapt your support as needed. We donโ€™t believe in setting time limits on your care. We care about you and meeting your care needs, not the clock!

We donโ€™t offer direct care services ourselves. Instead, we help you plan a personalised care program, then source the services you need from a network of trusted providers. This gives you ultimate flexibility and control. Focus on living at home AccessCareโ€™s approach ensures you have choice and control. We want to empower you to be involved in your care as you choose to be. This might mean we provide services to achieve your goals for you, achieve them together with you, or build your capacity to achieve them yourself. While residential care can be the right option for some people, our focus is on supporting people who have made the decision to stay at home for as long as possible. Planning your support When you become a client of AccessCare, you work with a case manager, who helps you identify your care goals and create a support plan that works toward achieving them. We then help you access the services you need from high quality healthhome and community care providers. Throughout this process, youโ€™re in control: you make decisions about your own care, and you can have as little or as much involvement as you wish in the management of your support plan. At AccessCare we listen to your preferences and develop care plans that will achieve your goal as you intend โ€” for example, if you do not have access to food and other daily living necessities. Depending on the level of involvement you wish to have, here are some of the options available: 6 week physiotherapy program to build strength and confidence to complete shopping independently Care worker can drive you to the shops and you complete the shopping together Care worker can shop on your behalf and bring groceries to your home Find out more about our SupportFirst case management approach.
