“I don’t feel like myself anymore.”
Depression is more than sadness, it can affect every part of a person’s life, from how they think to how they move through the day.
Things to look for:
• Loss of interest in things once enjoyed
• Persistent low mood
• Feeling hopeless or helpless
• Changes in appetite or weight
• Sleeping too much or too little
• Withdrawal from others
• Fatigue or low energy
• Thoughts of self-harm or su***de
Check in with those around you. Sometimes the strongest people are the ones silently struggling.

“That happened years ago, I should be over it by now.”
PTSD doesn’t follow a timeline, and it can affect anyone who’s experienced trauma - from car accidents to violence, natural disasters, or abuse.
Here are some signs to look out for:
• Flashbacks or intrusive memories
• Avoidance of reminders (places, people, situations)
• Nightmares or disturbed sleep
• Feeling constantly on edge or jumpy
• Irritability or angry outbursts
• Emotional numbness
If this sounds familiar, you’re not alone. Help is available, and healing is possible.

Pre eclampsia is a serious condition of pregnancy marked by high blood pressure and possible organ impact during pregnancy. Know the symptoms so you can seek help early:

⚠️Symptoms include:
• High blood pressure
Headaches that are difficult to treat or do not go away
• Swelling in hands, face or feet
• Blurred or changed vision or light sensitivity
• Upper belly pain or nausea
• Shortness of breath
• Sudden weight/fluid gain

Reporting these early are essential.

Talk to your midwife or obstetrician if you notice any of these signs—or if you’ve had high blood pressure before or are expecting multiples.

It is also possible to have pre-eclampsia without symptoms, so if you have questions or you are concerned, contact your midwife or obstetrician.

To all the parents navigating the journey of premature birth – we see your strength, resilience and love. 💜

Babies feed for many reasons: hunger, comfort, growth. It’s common for newborns to feed 8 to 12 times per 24 hours.

✅ Feeding cues may include stirring, rooting, hands to mouth. Don’t wait for crying

🕰 Some feeds are quick. Some are long. Some are close together.

Following your baby’s cues (instead of the clock) helps establish a healthy milk supply and supports responsive feeding.

Our Story

Mitcham Private Hospital is a fully accredited, 121 bed acute medical, surgical, maternity and mental health facility, providing for the healthcare needs of Melbourne’s outer eastern communities.

The hospital is owned and operated by Ramsay Health Care Ltd, a publically listed Australian company whose name is synonymous with quality in private health care.

Our highly skilled team of nursing and medical staff take pride in developing a distinctive private hospital experience and a quality of care that is recognised by the community. Throughout our patients’ stay, from pre-admission to discharge, each patient is treated with the utmost respect and dignity. Our five modern operating theatres are equipped with the latest technical equipment, supporting minor and complex surgery. For acutely ill patients or following major surgery, the three bed High Dependency Unit provides constant care and supervision to patients requiring specialist attention.

The hospital also accommodates admissions from doctors or Emergency Departments in our local area. Our medical staff provides medical cover 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with a General Surgeon and Physician roster in place to facilitate direct admission and care of acute medical patients.
