When a child brings a nursery rhyme into the therapeutic space — perhaps through song, movement or imaginative play — the therapist listens closely to what the rhyme might represent for that child. It may become a bridge for connection, a way to express a memory, or a means to restore safety through familiar rhythm and predictability.
Singing, clapping, rocking and rhyming together can soothe the nervous system, strengthen attachment, and help a child give voice to feelings that words alone cannot reach.
Through the simple magic of a nursery rhyme, a child can feel safe, seen and soothed — opening the door to imagination, communication and healing.
