A month ago, our amazing Behaviour Support Practitioner Alison explored a community-based volunteering option for a student needing a different way to engage with education across the week.

With his Mum, support workers, school principal and on board, today he started as an official member of the Poo Crew. With his uniform on and a clear purpose, he now has a structured, meaningful way to learn beyond the school gate.

Huge thanks to family, school staff, the support team, and the legends at Pinchapoo for making this proud moment happen.

Getting the right support early can make everyday life that little bit easier. Early therapy helps children build confidence, develop independence, and handle challenges before they grow.

At Back to Basics, we work alongside families to make daily routines smoother and moments together happier, because every child’s journey is unique, and we’re here to support yours. 💙

Sometimes, it’s not about changing the person, it’s about changing the environment.

This OT Week, we’re celebrating the power of small changes, because even the simplest adjustment can make a world of difference. From lighting and furniture to adaptive tools and visual supports, these tweaks can make everyday activities safer, easier, and more comfortable.

Discover how our Occupational Therapists help people make their spaces work for them. And explore practical resources you can download to support independence at home, school, and in the community.

You can’t always see a disability, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t there.

For many people, conditions like Autism, ADHD, chronic pain, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, anxiety, or sensory processing differences shape how they experience daily life, even when nothing “looks wrong" on the outside.

Invisible disabilities often bring hidden challenges: fatigue, overwhelm, misunderstanding, and stigma. What makes the biggest difference isn’t expertise, it’s empathy. Listening without judgment. Believing someone when they share their needs. Offering flexibility instead of assumptions.

This Invisible Disabilities Week, we’re encouraging everyone to look beyond the surface and learn what it really means to see the invisible. 💙

Some disabilities can’t be seen, but they’re still there. And they are real.

Autism, ADHD, chronic pain, sensory overload, fatigue, depression and anxiety, or memory challenges can all affect how someone moves through the world.

A small act of understanding, like slowing down, listening, and not assuming, can make a big difference.

This week, take a moment to see beyond what’s visible. 💙

This Carers Week, we’re celebrating the incredible parents who give their time, energy, and love to care for others, and reminding them that their wellbeing matters too.

Caring for someone you love can be deeply rewarding, but it can also be exhausting. It’s easy to put yourself last, but taking time to rest and recharge isn’t selfish, it’s essential.

In our latest blog, we share practical, real-life ways for parent-carers to prevent burnout, find calm in the chaos, and feel supported every step of the way. 💙

Teachers do far more than teach: they nurture, encourage, and advocate. This Carers Week, we’re saying thank you to the educators who go above and beyond for their students, especially those who need extra support to participate and learn.

Your patience, creativity, and care shape not just learning outcomes but lives. We’re grateful for every teacher who partners with families and therapists to help students succeed in the classroom and beyond. You make inclusion possible, one lesson at a time.

It’s National Carers Week, a time to recognise and celebrate the over three-quarters of a million Victorians who provide unpaid care and support to others.

At Back to Basics, we’re celebrating all forms of care, starting with the incredible support workers who empower people to live with confidence and independence. Every day, you show up with compassion, patience, and dedication, helping people build skills, reach goals, and live life on their own terms. Your work is often behind the scenes but never unseen. Thank you for caring with heart and making a real difference.

Our latest Thoughtful Thursday blog explores how multidisciplinary care brings together different allied health perspectives, and how this collaborative approach leads to more connected, consistent support for clients and families.

It also features a real-life case study showing how collaboration between a Speech Pathologist, Behaviour Support Practitioner, and Occupational Therapist at Back to Basics supported communication, independence, and sensory safety in daily routines.

This Winning Wednesday, we’re celebrating how advocacy and collaboration can make a real difference.

One of our clients was facing frequent hospital visits related to mealtime safety. By working closely with support staff, our therapists developed and implemented practical mealtime strategies that improved safety and comfort, helping reduce those hospital visits and supporting a better quality of life.

At Back to Basics Health Group, we’re proud to have our clients’ backs: advocating for their needs, empowering their support teams, and celebrating every step forward. 💙
