The NDIS review of Exercise Physiology services requires our input as Exercise Physiologists but more importantly those that benefit from our services.

NDIS participants their families and carers can all be involved in advising decision makers of how seeing an Exercise Physiologist can help build or maintain independence, prevent health decline and allow more participation in the community!

Please see the NDIS Evidence Advisory Committee survey (link in our bio) and share your experiences with us or on your socials.

We were lucky to have Denise a dietician from yesterday run us through the current understandings, applications of the use of weight loss drugs 💊

We also discussed specific nutritional advice that is important for those on these medications such as making sure fibre and protein intake is adequate to prevent unwanted loss of muscle and bone 🦴
A recent trial found that of the average 13.6% weight reduction 8.3kg (62%) was fat mass and 5.3kg (38%) was lean body mass. This corresponds to approx 20% of total weight loss being muscle - something that we really need to preserve when muscle health is so important for our health span and longevity.

This goes hand in hand with exercise where along with adequate protein we need resistance training and impact training as a must weekly to maintain muscle and bone health 🏋🏻‍♀️🏃🏻‍♂️
There is much more in this space to come and if you are currently taking these medications or know someone who is please get in touch for a consult with our Exercise Physiologist’s to review your current exercise plan or if you need assistance getting started and don’t know what is safe for you.
And….don’t forget we highly recommend our friends 😊 to review / discuss your current eating plan too!!!
