πŸ“’ Our future chiropractic workforce needs your support now.

Chiropractic students in Australia are completing hundreds of hours of mandatory, unpaid clinical placement as part of their degree. For many, this means real financial hardship, lost income, duplicate rent, travel costs, and stress. It's called 'placement poverty', and it's pushing talented students to the brink.

The Government's Commonwealth Prac Payment already supports nursing, teaching, midwifery and social work students. But allied health students, including chiropractic, have been left out.

✍️ A national petition, co-sponsored by MPs Dr Helen Haines and Senator David Pocock, is calling on the Federal Government to fix this, and we need as many signatures as possible.

Signing takes 60 seconds. Sharing could change a student's life.

πŸ‘‰ Sign the petition here: https://actionnetwork.org/petitions/expand-prac-payments-to-allied-health-and-medical-students

Every student deserves the chance to complete their training without facing financial crisis. Help us make that a reality. πŸ’™

New in the CA+ library. πŸ“š

One of the advantages of CA membership is access to the GEN-C catalogue - and it keeps growing.

Just added: Module 2 of the Pain Series - Addressing and Assessing Pain in Chiropractic Practice, presented by Julia Gover.

Julia is a pain specialist, TEDx speaker, and Director of CPD for the Royal College of Chiropractors. She holds an MSc in Pain Science and Management and spent over a decade in clinical practice working with people experiencing persistent and complex pain, before channelling that expertise into education. She also works with the Flippin' Pain Campaign, and her approach to pain science is exactly what you'd hope for: evidence-based, accessible, and genuinely hopeful.

This is the kind of content that makes a CA membership worth it.

πŸ“’ Calling regional, rural and remote chiropractors - your community needs you!

People living in RRR areas experience health outcomes up to 25% worse than those in metropolitan areas. Chiropractic care is often a lifeline where other services are limited, and a new CQUniversity research study wants to understand this better.

Led by three 5th-year student researchers with deep personal ties to rural and remote Australia:

πŸ”Ή Jimi grew up in Humpty Doo, NT, and experienced the impact of chiropractic care firsthand after working as a roofer and playing semi-professional rugby.
πŸ”Ή Kelsey has family roots in Broken Hill, NSW. As a registered nurse, she brings a holistic, patient-centred perspective to the research.
πŸ”Ή Kyle is from Whyalla, SA, and has been providing podiatry on the Eyre Peninsula while completing his chiropractic studies - with chiropractic in the family.

These researchers get it. And they need your help.

βœ… Here's what's involved for you:
β€’ Complete a short eligibility questionnaire
β€’ Display the study poster in your clinic
β€’ Encourage your patients to complete the anonymous survey

Your patients' insights could shape the future of musculoskeletal care delivery in regional and remote communities across Australia.

Do you have expertise, a methodology, or a research skillset worth sharing with the chiropractic profession? This is your invitation to take the stage.

The Chiropractic Australia Research Foundation (CARF) is inviting proposals for 90-minute interactive workshops to be delivered at Researchers' Day 2026 in Melbourne on Friday, 9 October 2026.

Researchers' Day is the profession's flagship research event; a forum where researchers, clinicians, and graduate students come together to engage in critical discussion, share expertise, and develop skills in chiropractic research and evidence-based practice.

Workshops should:
β€” Promote active participation, scholarly rigour, and meaningful exchange
β€” Support the translation of research evidence into clinical practice, education, and/or policy
β€” Be accessible to a research-literate audience across diverse levels of experience
β€” Focus on established or emerging areas of research

Whether you're an established researcher, an early-career clinician-researcher, or an academic with something valuable to contribute, we want to hear from you. This is how a profession builds its future: together, from the ground up.

πŸ“… Submission deadline: Thursday, 7 May 2026 at 5:00 PM

6.9 million Australians are living with a musculoskeletal condition right now - that's more than 1 in 4 of us.

Back pain alone accounts for over $3.4 billion in annual healthcare costs and 177,000 hospital admissions.

Evidence-based chiropractic care is a safe, effective, and cost-efficient part of the solution, yet it remains underutilised in Australia's health system.

That's what Chiropractic Australia is working to change.

And if you or someone you know has experienced back pain, contact your Chiropractor.
