Inclusion should never feel extraordinary. It should just be.

Comedian and GSA team member Oliver Hunter shares what access really means - from comedy clubs in basements to toilet doors with steps.

For Oliver, accessibility isn’t about special treatment. It’s about being able to do the everyday things most of us take for granted - like getting to the stage or going to the bathroom on your own.

And when it comes to inclusion, he says it best: “It’s better to say the wrong thing than nothing at all. We can go forward from the wrong thing, but if you stay quiet, we can’t progress.”

Accessibility goes beyond ramps and rails.

Our Co-CEO Nicole Vongdara joined ABC Sydney Breakfast this morning with Craig Reucassel to talk about the Just Be campaign, and why accessibility should be built into every part of how we do business.

Nicole shared how true accessibility includes digital access, inclusive design, and workplace culture, and how considering accessibility from the start is always more effective than trying to retrofit it later.

When accessibility is designed in, everyone benefits.

AI won’t be fair if it isn’t accessible.

As AI reshapes the way we work, accessibility can’t be an afterthought. True innovation means designing technology that includes everyone, not just the majority.

In this new piece for Capital Brief, GSA Co-CEO Zack Alcott shares why accessibility must be at the centre of Australia’s AI transformation, and how leaders can build inclusion in from the start, not retrofit it later.

At GSA, we help organisations embed accessibility and inclusion across physical, digital, and cultural spaces - because inclusion should never feel extraordinary. It should just be.

As AI reshapes work and society, accessibility can’t be an afterthought. Designing for inclusion is how we build a fairer, smarter future.

Creating a world where everyone can just be starts with understanding access - not as a checklist, but as a mindset.

That belief sits behind our ongoing partnership with Tennis Australia and the release of the new Tennis Accessibility Profile.

The Profile and supporting guide, co-developed by GSA, give clubs across Australia a practical way to review their facilities, understand what accessibility really means in practice, and identify achievable steps to improve.

It’s not about being perfect. It’s about being informed, open to learning, and ready to make progress. The process helps clubs communicate clearly with their communities, plan future upgrades and create environments where everyone - players, families, and visitors - can participate with confidence.

Zack Alcott, Co-CEO of GSA, joined ABC Far North with Charlie McKillop to talk about Just Be - our national campaign built from the voices of people with disability.

Zack shared how inclusion doesn’t have to be overwhelming or expensive. It’s about small, practical steps that make everyday life more accessible - things like better design, clear communication, and sharing access information openly.

At its heart, Just Be asks a simple question: What if the worst thing about something was the same for everyone?

Inclusion should never feel extraordinary. It should just be.

What if we were all complaining about the same things?
A burnt latte.
Bad hold music.
Middle seats on planes.

For millions of people with disability, the worst part of work, travel, shopping, and daily life isn’t the small annoyances - it’s the barriers that make those experiences inaccessible, exclusionary, or just plain impossible.

Just Be is a new campaign by GSA, created with people with lived experience of disability. It’s about making inclusion part of everyday life, where everyone can just be.

We’re proud to have supported the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) in shaping the Draft Yarra Park Master Plan, which sets out a long-term vision for one of Melbourne’s most iconic green spaces.

Get Skilled Access (GSA) worked alongside the project team to ensure that accessibility and universal design are embedded across the plan - so that Yarra Park continues to be a space where people of all abilities can move, connect and belong.

Thank you for the opportunity to contribute to this significant piece of work. It’s been a privilege to bring a lived experience perspective to the process and help strengthen inclusion at the heart of Melbourne’s Sports and Entertainment Precinct.

Read the full draft Master Plan and share your feedback here: https://www.mcg.org.au/about/governance/yarra-park-master-plan

As part of its responsibilities and to guide future landscaping improvements in Yarra Park, the MCC is refreshing the previous Yarra Park Master Plan.

Inclusion means a lot of things to a lot of people. For us, it’s about how we work, not just what we say.

The GSA way brings together:
• Led by lived experience – real insights from people with disability.
• Collaborative – we call you into conversations; we don’t call you out.
• Approachable – because real change happens when people feel safe to ask questions.
• Practical – realistic, achievable, and designed for lasting impact.

That’s how we help organisations move from awareness to action. Contact us to start your inclusion journey: https://getskilledaccess.com.au/contact-us/
