Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related death in Australia, with almost 15,000 Australians diagnosed every year.

A new lung cancer screening program launched in Australia on July 1st 2025 and provides free low-dose computed-tomography (CT) scans to look for early signs of lung cancer in people at higher risk, due to their age and smoking history.

By detecting lung cancer early, the program is expected to save hundreds of lives each year

People are eligible for the program if they are:
• aged between 50-70 years, and
• show no signs or symptoms suggesting they may have lung cancer (that is, they are asymptomatic), and
• currently smoke or have quit smoking in the past 10 years, and
• have a history of to***co cigarette smoking of at least 30 pack-years.

Contact your GP to organize your lung cancer screening

Check today for a healthier tomorrow during National Diabetes Week (13-19 July). Diabetes is the fastest growing chronic condition in Australia, and 125,000 Victorians have undiagnosed diabetes.

If you have a relative with type 1 diabetes, access the Type1Screen program to determine your risk.

If you are at risk of type 2 diabetes, use the AUSDRISK tool or a chat with your doctor.

If you live with diabetes, proactive health checks for eyes, feet, blood pressure and kidneys can reduce your risk of long-term complications

Schedule a health check with your GP today. A check today for a healthier tomorrow
