Do you have spare nappies lying around? 40 of a size your little one has grown out of?
Here's what to do with them!

There is only 1 week to go until our July Collective Campaign begins!

We will have Collection Points located across Australia that will be accepting donations of new and leftover nappies. Our local volunteers will then pass your donations onto our Community Partners, where they will be distributed to families in crisis.

To find your closest Collection Point to donate, please visit this link: https://www.thenappycollective.com/nappy-collection-points

How can you help right now? Share this post and help us raise awareness for our July Collective. We need your nappies!

Goodmorning kanga mums past and future. I'm very sorry that I haven't been able to support you physically, mentally and emotionally over the past crazy year.

As i have been physically out of action for a while now, I have started (with a couple of teachers) a baby goods, sensory play and children's toy online store.

I have decided that many of you have supported Kylie and myself so I am offering free shipping to all of you using the code KANGAPC

I hope this can help occupy your little ones during lockdown and spare you some sanity (or buy you enough time to drink a hot coffee)

Thankyou for sticking around and I look forward to seeing some of you when I can recommence classes!

Sorry I have been MIA but I saw this on a friend’s page and you all need to read it 💜

Child - "How old are you, Grandpa?"
Grandpa - "I'm 81, dear."
Child - "So does that mean you were alive during the Coronavirus?"
Grandpa - "Yes, I was."
Child - "Wow. That must have been horrible, Grandpa. We were learning about that at school this week.

They told us about how all the schools had closed. And mums and dads couldn't go to work so didn't have as much money to do nice things.
They said that you weren't allowed to go and visit your friends and family and couldn't go out anywhere.
They told us that the shops ran out of lots of things so you didn't have much bread, and flour, and toilet rolls.
They said that Easter holidays were cancelled. And they told us about all those thousands of people that got very sick and who died.
They explained how hard all the doctors and nurses and all essential workers worked, and that lots of them died, too.

That must have been so horrible, grandpa!"

Grandpa - "Yes, that is all correct, but I was just a kid back then. But to tell you the truth I remember it differently...

I remember playing in the garden for hours with mum and dad and having picnics outside and lots of bbqs.
I remember making things with my Dad and baking with my Mum.
I remember learning how to do hand stands and back flips. I remember having quality time with my family, even when they were being my teachers.
I remember Mum's favorite words becoming 'Hey, I've got an idea...'
Rather than 'Maybe later or tomorrow I'm a bit busy'.
I remember making our own bread and pastry, growing our own vegies and having fresh eggs from our new chooks. I remember having movie night three or four times a week instead of just one.

I remember we got to put our Christmas lights up in the middle of the year, just because we wanted to.

It was a horrible time for lots of people you are right.

But I remember it differently."

Remember how our children will remember these times.
Be in control of the memories they are creating right now, so that despite all the awful headlines and emotional stories they will come to read in their future years, they can only actually remember the happy times....

Super exciting news:
My sister is pregnant!!
She asked me to make a list of things she needs and I would love some recommendations from you!
There are always those things as a first time mum that you just didn't know you needed.
Mine were a car mirror and believe it or not baby wrap/ carrier (for when you get home and the sleeping phase wears off and all they wants is body contact)
I also packed the exact number of nappies recommended by the hospital, big mistake!

So what were your necessities/ forgotten items/ life savers?
Happy to publish a list for all the first rime mums

Hello to all my kanga mums past, present and future.
My name is Belinda and I am the kangatraining instructor for kanga Point Cook.
Sorry I have been M.I.A. Many of you know that about a year ago i had another joey to add to our community. The plan was to wait for my body to recover and start back, unfortunately my body was fighting its own battle with hodgkins lymphoma that was disgnosed just 4 months after my little man's birth. After six months of tests, operations and a very heavy load of chemotherapy I am now in remission and am very slowly building up my strength. I hope to be able to take some classes towards the end of year/ beginning of next year (with medical clearance)

Please feel free to tag some new/ expecting mammas on this post.

As I become more active on this page I will be uploading information on all things self care, baby and baby wearing.

Much love to all of you who have stuck around and biggest apologies if i haven't responded to your queries in the past few months.
❤❤❤

Little man has graduated to a back carry! The carrier reduces the load on all of my muscles and is an absolute saviour!!

Happy Park Day ###x

Happy park day to all the Victorian parents and children!

Now let's just make sure we aren't all there at the same time!

R U OK? 💛

R U OK? 💛

Today is R U OK?Day and if your response is "What do you think - of course I'm not OK!" then you're not alone.

2020 has been a challenging, painful year full of grief, stress, isolation and uncertainty - particularly for families in Victoria.

We are giving birth with only one support person by our side.
We are grieving the maternity leave we'd been dreaming of.
We are FaceTiming grandparents instead of watching them hold and kiss and delight in our babies.
We are learning how to be mothers and fathers, without our village.
We are juggling newborns and homeschooling older siblings.
We are logging on to antenatal classes online and wondering if we'll know what to do when the baby arrives.
We are anxious, so, so, anxious and many of our usual coping mechanisms have been taken away.
We are crying because we're burnt out and exhausted, tired to our bones and wondering when life will feel "normal" again.

It's completely understandable to be struggling at the moment, to be feeling out of your depth and turned inside out and upside down.

But you are not alone - and help is available.

Please don't suffer in silence.
Don't wait to seek support.
You are not a burden.
You are loved.
You are needed.

And there is hope.

Over on our site we have detailed information about how to seek treatment. You can also contact us directly if you need help working out where to turn.

Don’t forget, also, to check in on the new parents around you. Asking the question may just save a life.

We are here for you today - and always.

Leaps

Anyone with a young child/baby knows that they go through developmental leaps where their whole world changes. They learn new skills and go through physical changes.

Well today marks the start of our thunderstorm period for our little man. The inconsolable crying came out of nowhere. I started by stripping him down and checking he was physically ok then offering skin to skin. When neither of them worked I checked my app.. shock horror leap 3 starts tomorrow (We are always pretty much to the day).

So I put him down (crying) got my carrier; popped him in and dance to 1 song. My little munchkin is as close to me as possible and that is the relief and familiarity he needed to not only calm down but fall asleep. .

Baby wearing provides the feeling of safety, closeness and familiarity even when their whole world is changing. Makes mumma feel all the feels too! Hold them tight, hug them and take in all the love. These are the moments that imprint your memory.

Thank you Kangatraining Australia for introducing me to the world of baby wearing xx.
