We loved being part of The Sandro Demaio Foundation's Little Food Festival at Fed Square last week!
Across the two days, kids jumped into our lunchbox packing activity, building their own lunchboxes with toy foods. The idea was simple. Pack a lunchbox to power their day. Whether it’s learning, running, playing, focusing, or even a dragon quest, different foods can support different kinds of energy.
There was a big focus on colour, texture and variety, with kids mixing and matching foods from across the five food groups. What stood out most was the excitement. Rainbow lunchboxes, creative combinations, and plenty of “cooking” as kids proudly put together their own ideas.
Chloe and Ricky also took to the stage, with a crowd-powered lunchbox build that had kids voting, cheering and shaping what went in. A simple, hands-on way to bring the concept of a colourful lunchbox to life.
We also launched a new lunchbox resource at the event, packed with ideas sorted into helpful categories like textures, ease of prep and thermos-friendly options. Designed to make it easier to build a varied lunchbox that works for real life. https://buff.ly/5BbpQLf
Across the whole festival, it was fantastic to see kids and adults engaging with and learning about all different aspects of the food system. A brilliant two days showing what’s possible when food education is interactive, inclusive and full of curiosity.
