“Independence was the best thing that we could possibly give him.”
For 11-year-old Xabian, life used to mean relying on others for his every move. His condition made independent mobility seem impossible.
With a customised Magic 360 Urban and a unique foot control, Xabian can now steer his own path, keep up with friends, play sports, and explore the world like any other kid.
As his mum, Caddie, tells us, “he was having trouble making friends at school… being able to drive his own wheelchair has given him so much more confidence. Now he loves to run off and just do his own thing, away from me. And the thing is, you’ve just got to let them.”
For Caddie, it’s more than freedom - it’s the joy of holding his hand on the way to school:

“I’ve been trialling the Extreme X8 for four months now, and honestly, I can’t imagine life without this 4WD powerchair! Every day I’m on the local beach with my little dog, using the X8 as my support bar for physio stretches. It’s freedom like never before.
I even built a custom campervan just for the X8 – complete with rooftop solar panels to keep it charged while I’m on the move. It’s the only chair I take away with me because it really goes everywhere: restaurants, pubs, public toilets, council ferries, and even on some buses.
Camping wouldn’t be possible without the X8. It can access Brisbane buses and CityCat ferries too.
I'm on it every day. Often four hours on the local beach.”

David Daw - Magic Mobility user and disability advocate - is on a mission!
One year ago, he had a bold idea: invite his local county and city officials to experience Kingston, NY from the perspective of a wheelchair user. Now, in his Magic 360, he’s made it happen – showcasing the everyday challenges wheelchair users face in and around the local area to Ulster County Executive Jen Metzger, Legislator Gina Hansut, and Diversity Officer Dina Suggs.
Part of Ulster County’s ground breaking initiative, David tells us the day was eye-opening, impactful, and deeply meaningful.
