Here's your timely reminder to Slip, Slop, Slap, Seek and Slide this Summer 😎

Excessive sun exposure is not all sunshine later on in life - the risk of developing various skin diseases are far too high ☀️

Australia has one of the highest rates of skin cancer in the world. Each year, nearly 2000 Aussies die from this almost entirely preventable disease 🚑

So please wear 50+ sunscreen, hat, sunglasses and protective wear, and seek shelter where possible.

Snake Bites: What You Need to Know 🐍

With warmer weather across Australia, snakes are becoming more active in both rural and suburban areas. It’s important to stay alert and know how to respond.

If someone is bitten by a snake:
• Keep them as still and calm as possible.
• Call emergency services immediately (Triple Zero) 📞
• Place a bandage over the bite, then apply a firm compression bandage from the limb upward toward the torso.

Also, mark the bite location for paramedics!

Our Story

Australian First Aid was formed in 1988 by John Haines, a MICA Flight Paramedic, thereby becoming the country’s first recognised private provider of First Aid training.

John recognised that first aid training desperately needed to become more relevant and innovative, for having witnessed far too many poor prehospital outcomes and witnessed unrealistic first aid training methods he felt it was time industry should access training that made a difference.

One of the first objectives was to offer custom designed training that met the specific needs of each organisation, rather than always providing standard training that often doesn’t provide sufficient relevance. This included helping OHS Managers to drive cultural change to accident awareness and prevention.
