🌱National Pain Week | July 21–27, 2025 🌱
Pain is personal. However, it should never be isolating…
Pain has many names:
A dull throb.
A sharp stab.
A deep ache.
A burning thread woven through every day.
Sometimes it arrives with reason, injury, illness, diagnosis.
Other times, it stays without one.
That’s the nature of persistent pain:
Invisible. Complex. Uninvited. Persistent.
🔎 The Deeper Truths of Pain:
• 🧠Pain isn’t just in the body, it lives in the nervous system.
• ⚖️It’s not always proportional to injury, it’s shaped by biology, stress, memory, and emotion.
• 1 in 5 Australians live with persistent pain. Among them are children, teens, parents, workers, athletes, caregivers.
• 💰Pain costs Australia over $80 billion each year, yet many still suffer in silence, unseen and under supported.
đź’¬ What Pain Can Teach (If We Listen):
• That slowing down is not a failure, it’s wisdom.
• That invisible does not mean imaginary.
• That strength sometimes looks like getting out of bed. Or, saying “no.” Or asking for help.
• That healing is not always about being pain free, it’s about living well with what is.
🤲 What Makes a Difference:
• Being believed.
• Being listened to without interruption or agenda.
• Multidisciplinary care, body, mind, nervous system, story.
• Community that doesn’t offer quick fixes, they rather walk alongside, gently.
Pain may shape a person’s day, but it doesn’t diminish their value.
It doesn’t take away their talents, dreams, humour, or heart 💛
So this week, and beyond, let’s create a world where pain is met with understanding, not suspicion.
Where people don’t have to “prove” their pain to deserve care.
Where science and compassion sit at the same table 🙏
To everyone living with pain:
We see you.
We honour your strength.
And we believe in your capacity to heal, in ways big, small, and beautifully your own 🌱
