Today is Earth Day 🌏

It’s a reminder that small actions can make a big difference, whether it’s reducing waste, getting outdoors, or supporting a more inclusive and sustainable community.

At Interchange Outer East, we’re proud to create opportunities for people to connect with nature, each other, and the world around them.

What’s one small thing you can do today for our planet?

Places Available - IOE Carer Art Class
An art class for carers who have a child with disability

Date: Tuesday 28th April
Time: 10am – 12pm
Location: IOE, Ferntree Gully (Training Room)
Cost: $10 per session
Book: https://www.trybooking.com/DIJAO

About the session: In our April session, we will be exploring the technique of gelli plate printing where we will create different textures and layers on paper. Your artworks can be taken home and framed or used as beautiful homemade cards. No art experience necessary. Sandra, our wonderful art therapist supplies everything that you need for this class.
About Sandra: A person-centred arts therapist, counsellor, and clinical supervisor. Sandra finds her strength lies in relationship and meaningful support of people. Regardless of experience or artistic ability, even if you have never picked up a paintbrush before, no experience is necessary as Sandra guides and encourages you to relax and have fun while exploring ways to express yourself.

Places also available for our session on 26th May (book via the same link)

IOE are proud to offer these classes to carers in partnership with Uniting Carer Gateway.

Our Junior Sibling Support Group made the most of the school holidays with a sweet day out at the Yarra Valley Chocolaterie — and yes, there was plenty of chocolate involved!

More importantly, it was a chance for siblings to connect, share experiences, build friendships and just have fun together.

We received this lovely message from a family after the day:
“Thank you so very much for a fantastic day. Our children loved it. Huge smiles, new friendships and great stories. What you guys do we’ll never be able to repay. Thank you!!”

This is exactly why these groups matter.

Our Siblings Program is made possible thanks to the generous support of Freemasons Foundation Victoria and the Monash Gully District Freemasons.

Just look at those smiling faces !
At our Coonawarra Camp in March, it was our volunteers who helped turn moments into memories. Their support, kindness and willingness to jump in made camp what it was.

If you are interested in volunteering with IOE take 5 mins to fil in our simple contact form and Paulo or Jax will be in touch! It will change your life!

"The families - wow, what can I say but it was an eye-opener for me to witness the love, patience and dedication of parents and carers, and to celebrate the freedom the cap provided for them all to just be themselves in a safe, non-judgemental environment. What an amazing gift.."

IOE recently received this heartfelt message from a grandparent who attended our Family Camp, and it captures exactly why we do what we do.

Creating spaces where families feel supported, connected and free to be themselves is at the heart of everything we offer 💛

As autumn sets in we were refectling on the summer past and how at the Knox Festival 2026 back in February, something really stayed with us.
Throughout the day, people kept stopping by our stall, not just to ask questions, but to share their stories.
Again and again, we heard things like…
💬 “I don’t know what we would have done without IOE.”
💬 “You’ve made such a difference to our family.”
💬 “Our lives would have been so much harder without your support.”
These weren’t just passing comments. They were honest, heartfelt moments that reminded us why we do what we do.
To every person who took the time to come and speak with us, thank you. Your words mean more than you know.

This is the impact of community. 💛
