Independence looks different for everyone — and that’s exactly how it should be.
For people with a disability, fostering independence is about building confidence, developing skills and being supported to make choices in everyday life. With the right opportunities, independence grows over time.
⭐️This month, we’re focusing on how independence is supported through trust, encouragement and everyday experiences.

April 2 is officially World Autism Awareness Day! 💙💚💛🧡❤️💜
At The Y, our skilled disability workers and inclusive programs focus on practical understanding of Autism and other disabilities.
Our goal? To create environments—at work, and in our local communities—where everyone feels understood, respected and included. Not just for a day, but every day.

🌞Recently our Wellness Wednesday social group explored beautiful Warrandyte, walking along the peaceful riverside track where the Yarra River flows right beside the trail — the perfect backdrop for fresh air, gentle movement and great conversations. 🌿✨
Wellness Wednesday is all about slowing down, connecting with others, and enjoying the calm moments in nature 💛

Adventure Tuesdays is a social group program offering exciting community outings and supportive 1:1 experiences. Each week brings something new — and one of the favourites is a Timezone + Movie Day!
Playing at Timezone isn’t just fun — it helps build coordination, encourages social interaction, boosts confidence, and gives everyone a chance to try something new in a vibrant, sensory‑rich environment. ✨🕹️
If you’re looking for a supportive space to get out, get active, and connect with others, Adventure Tuesdays is the perfect way to do it. 💛
Person-centred support means creating experiences that reflect what people enjoy most.
A recent trip to Luna Park was filled with laughter, excitement and unforgettable moments. Experiences like this support confidence, connection and participation in the community. 🎢
