Remember the things you loved as a child? The spark that lit up your being? ✨️
Throwback to little me and calisthenics where my movement practice began. 🥰
A tiny person who loved to dance and perform, the sparkles, the joy and rhythm.
Callisthenics has its roots in ancient Greece, Kallos = beauty, sthenos = strength. It's main emphasis was teamwork and uniformity, moving as one in harmony.
Compared to yoga asana, the shift from external coordination and perfection, to internal awareness.
Yoga has taught me to feel rather than perform.
(Although few of the ladies on my last retreat were graced by a rare performance of Calistenics "marching" - you're welcome 😂♥️).
Although it all began with calisthenics, my movement journey went on to gymnastics, jazz, tap, hip hop, you name it.
Dancing is what makes me feel most alive, and that's why I love yoga asana it's the feeling of self-expression from within.
Do you remember the things that made your heart soar as a child? Could it have been quietly guiding you all along?
