International Women’s Day 2026
So even though we are surrounded by incredible women: colleagues, patients, family & friends. We went to go down the empowerment post path, wanted to talk about the achievements and abilities women possess but sadly the words didn't come flooding out, not because they aren't there, there is just something louder to be said. For us, this would be just gloss today, a feel good moment (I guess some would argue that is also lovely, and it is, we don't disagree). But below the gloss are very real stories and very real experiences that impact women across all the years when it comes to their health.
The repetitive story we hear a lot in clinic is 'something doesn't feel right, yet I'm being told everything is completely normal.'
A specialist recently said to a patient of ours after she seeked their professional opinion on her pain that been acute for over 6 months: 'Oh, I see you have a very rare condition (she held her breath, held back tears) that's called (and spelt it out) N-O-R M-A-L. That's right, you're normal. Nothing to be done here for you, go try this, don't do that and you will be fine'. She cried, not because she was normal but because her pain wasn't normal.
Words matter.
Today is an opportunity to recognise the strength it takes for women to continue asking questions, seeking answers, and prioritising their wellbeing, sometimes for years before clarity and a successful treatment pathway is found.
To the women who continue to advocate for their health and trust their instincts about their bodies, your voice matters and your experience deserves to be taken seriously.
We are privileged to support so many women in our community as they navigate their health journeys.
Ladies you are never alone- you don't overreact, you're not hysterical and what you feel isn't wrong or in your head.
Happy International Women’s Day 💙
