Clients at the Social Support Group in Narre Warren have been tending to their vegetable garden each week with great pride 🌱 From tomatoes and carrots to fresh cucumbers, their hard work paid off as they enjoyed a delicious home-grown salad with lunch today.

Residents recently enjoyed a very special New Year’s afternoon tea, featuring freshly made Oliebollen — a traditional Dutch-style doughnut enjoyed on New Year’s Eve.

The idea was born during a Food Focus meeting, where residents shared cherished food memories and spoke about dishes that held deep personal and cultural meaning. Inspired by these stories, Kellie Vernon collaborated with our kitchen team to bring one of those memories to life.

Our Seaford Kitchen pastry chef, Carolyn Thompson, lovingly prepared the Oliebollen — lightly fried doughnuts filled with raisins and apple, finished with a generous dusting of powdered sugar.

For many residents, it was more than just a sweet treat. One resident, Jo, was especially moved, sharing that the Oliebollen tasted just like the ones her mother used to make — bringing back treasured New Year’s Eve memories and a beautiful sense of home.

International Day of People with Disability, 3rd December, is a United Nations (UN) day observed internationally. It aims to promote community awareness, understanding and acceptance of people with disability.

Each year the UN announces a theme to observe for the International Day of People with Disability. The annual theme provides an overarching focus on how society can strive for inclusivity by removing physical, technological, and attitudinal barriers for people with disabilities. This has been occurring since 1992, when the General Assembly designated 3 December as the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

In Australia, IDPwD is a joint effort between government, schools, organisations, community groups, businesses and individuals.

IDPwD is an opportunity to be part of creating an inclusive and diverse community for the 5.5 million people with disability in Australia.

The Australian Government through the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing funds a national program to help promote and raise awareness of this day.

We had such a lovely trip to the Yarra Valley Chocolaterie in Yarra Glen!
We even managed to dodge the rain and enjoy a cozy morning tea before wandering through the shop, where residents had the chance to pick up a few treats.

Our ladies celebrated Oaks Day in style. Everyone wore their finest fascinators and enjoyed a lively afternoon of music, laughter, and great company. Residents sipped wine, played music-themed games, and won some lovely prizes. A delicious lunch menu was served by MiMeals, featuring a range of tasty dishes that everyone enjoyed. It was a wonderful time filled with fun and friendship.

We invite you all to attend the session on How to spot and avoid scam, and a representative from the National Anti-Scam Centre (also known as ScamWatch), will deliver a free presentation designed to help you identify scams and stay safe.

They’ll showcase some real-life examples and let you know what to do if you have been targeted. They’ll also provide an overview of some Government initiatives designed to help make Australia a harder target for scams.

Our residents at Prins Willem Alexander Village enjoyed our Oktoberfest celebration at Amalia Garden, featuring live music and entertainment by Craig. This event was complemented by cold refreshments and a delicious Black Forest cake, freshly prepared in the best German style by our kitchen team.

MiCare Clarinda social group was taken to Lysterfield Lake Park outing. Everyone had a great time enjoying gentle walks, joyful conversations, and the beauty of nature all around. It was a heartwarming day of relaxation, connection, and appreciation for the pleasure of life.

The Bentleigh and Oakleigh social group joined together to celebrate. Everyone had fun, shared joy and enjoyed dancing.
