Unfortunately playing veterans footy has finally caught up with me.🙁 I'll be having surgery on my shoulder on Monday the 11th of April. This will mean I won't be able to see patients for several weeks.
I will still be available for telehealth consults or enquiries so if you do have something hand or wrist related that is worrying you, please get in touch. I can guarantee I'll need the distraction!!

Lockdown continues! I'd hoped against hope that it wouldn't but reality has spoken. What that means is that I can still see patients but that there has to be a risk of the injury requiring an escalation of care if I don't intervene. The easiest way to clarify what that means is to contact me and if I'm allowed to see you, I will. Unfortunately, Northside Boulders remains closed at this time.🥺

Interesting article about junior climbers. I'd have to agree I've seen far more growth plate injuries than pulley injuries in that cohort. Often not diagnosed or appreciated by those closest to them. They need time, non aggressive treatment, and education.

Sporting Hands & Tricky Wrists

I have been working as a hand therapist for more than 20 years now and it has been quite a journey. I started working in hands in New York City before returning to Australia, and since then have worked in public hospitals as well as running my own private practice since 2002. I have experience in treating almost every condition associated with hand and upper limb pain.

I do love sport, and particularly enjoy working with athletes of all levels. I am a consultant to the Hawthorn Football Club, to the Carlton AFLW team, and Tennis Australia. Lately I have been doing a lot of work with elite climbers. Outside of this environment, I see many people with hand and wrist pain who are not athletes.

They may have sustained an injury at work or in a car accident. It may be a wear and tear type injury associated with age or overuse. It could be the result of trauma; a fractured bone or torn ligament. The nerves in your wrist are easily compressed causing discomfort with daily tasks. There are many things that can go wrong, but the first step in healing is finding the right person to give you the right help.

I am an independent, sole practitioner. If you make an appointment with me, you will only see me. I work from four locations in Melbourne: Balwyn, Glen Iris, Hawthorn, & Northcote. If Facebook won’t let you make an appointment, it may be easier to go to my website at www.andersonhandtherapy.com.au and do it online there. There is also a lot of information about me, my research, and my injury management philosophies on that site. Contact me directly if you have any questions about a hand or upper limb injury that is bothering you. I look forward to the opportunity to help you in any way I can.
