Belly Beans Doula - Pregnancy, Labour & Birth Support
Postnatal support also available

Are you looking for additional support during your pregnancy, labour and beyond? Have you considered using a Doula?

- A doula supports the emotional and physical (non medical) needs of the birthing mother throughout her pregnancy, labour, birth and early postnatal period
- A doula helps support the father/partner navigate their way through the birth journey, she does not replace them (unless this is requested), she simply enables them to best support the birthing mother, helping to create a calm, safe and loving environment

The birth of your baby is monumental and this experience writes a story you will retell throughout your life. My hope is that however and wherever you choose to birth your baby you will look back on your birth experience with a sense of awe and pride, and that the story you retell will be one of positivity and joy

Such a lovely way to frame it... ❤

❤ Floating on my little cloud of love ❤️

Labours can flow and make sense and feel incredibly familiar to witness and in a flash things can change. Holding couples through the calm and the storm is an absolute honour.
Sometimes when labour challenges arise the room erupts with busy focused medical staff the doula role deeply connects to the heart of mother and partner holding them in a calm reassuring voice, a gentle face, loving arms in the hope that the intensity is nurtured.

Missed posting quite a few of these over the last few months, but...

💕 I'm floating on my little cloud of love again 💕

This recent birth took this absolute birthing super woman to the brink, then eased back, then to the brink and eased off again... this must have repeated 4 or so times over her long arduous labour...

Always learning more with every family and woman I support, so greatful ❤️

We are saddened to hear news of the passing of Michel Odent, whose vision and writing reshaped the way we understand human birth.

Michel Odent reminded us that birth is not a medical procedure to be controlled, but a primal rythm to be respected. He advocated for home-like maternity units, warm water births, protecting the birthing woman's privacy and honouring her instincts, undisturbed contact between mother and newborn; he was among the first to discuss the importance of the microbiome, and question many of the practices that had (and have) become normalised in overmedicalised maternity systems globally.

Michel Odent's legacy lives on in every dimmed, quiet birthing room, and in every midwife his words and work inspired to join our profession.

Thank you, Michel, for your passion, vision and committment to women and newborns.
