Meet Julie 💚
Julie grew up in France, raised closely by her grandparents. That early bond stayed with her and planted the seed for a future working with older people. While completing a hospitality degree, Julie travelled through Australia, Canada and Norway. Australia soon felt like home, and it’s where she met her husband and settled in Melbourne.
Before joining Accent Home Care, Julie worked in hospitality, including five years as a hotel reception manager. Working through COVID often meant managing evening shifts on her own and supporting people through challenging situations. Those years helped shape Julie’s calm approach, problem-solving skills and genuine ability to connect with people.
Julie later worked in employment services, supporting up to 100 job seekers at a time. While rewarding, she was looking for something more secure and meaningful. Aged care had always been in the back of her mind, and Accent Home Care gave her the chance to bring her skills and compassion together.
Julie began as a Care Partner and quickly built strong relationships with her clients. She took time to really know them, not just their care needs, but their families too, and even the best time of day to make a phone call. These small details helped clients feel truly seen and supported.
Like many in the sector, Julie and her colleagues have navigated the challenges of moving from Home Care Packages to Support at Home. Julie meets these changes with patience and empathy, understanding that families are doing their best within changing rules and funding limits.
What Julie believes makes Accent Home Care special is the personal touch. People are never just a number. The team supports one another and always works hard to get the best outcomes for clients.
Julie finds her work deeply rewarding, and kind words from clients mean the world to her. One heartfelt letter from a client named Melisa brought her to tears and reminded her why this work matters so much.
After maternity leave, Julie has recently returned to work three days a week as an Interim Care Partner, with the support of a gradual return to work. Becoming a mum has given Julie a new perspective on life, and she brings care, connection and quiet confidence into everything she does.
We’re so grateful to have Julie as part of the Accent Home Care family 💚
