☕️ Did you know stimulants like energy drinks and coffee can have the opposite effect on ADHD brains?
☕️ The caffeine in energy drinks and coffee acts as a stimulant which on most neurotypical brains causes a release of too much adrenaline and dopamine causing a hyperactive effect.
☕️ BUT in ADHD brains, this opposite effect can happen. ADHD brains often struggle with low dopamine so stimulating a release of dopamine helps give a more balanced amount of “happy chemicals”.
☕️Rather than causing a “high,” this boost in stimulation allows for improved focus, reduced mental hyperactivity and a calming, grounding effect for many ADHD brains.
☕️Every person is different however and will react to stimulants in a unique fashion.
☕️Chronically over consuming energy drinks and caffeine for most people can lead to increased anxiety, heart palpitations and sleep disturbances.
☕️Are you relaxed when you have caffeine or hyperactive?

❤️ One of the BIGGEST things I’ve noticed as a Chinese Medicine Practitioner is the HUGE rise of women from 35-50 getting a late autism or ADHD diagnosis.
❤️I’ve seen a massive increase clinically as so many women are struggling with how they “suddenly can’t cope” with life’s demands and have accessed a diagnosis to help get support.
❤️The hormonal shifts (lower oestrogen) that happen with perimenopause, as well the increased societal/ caretaking demands on women in their 30’s and 40’s can make ADHD symptoms “appear out of nowhere”.
❤️ Oestrogen has a protective mechanism over dopamine so as oestrogen naturally declines, the protective measure disappears and can lead to already low dopamine markers (often coincides with ADHD) dropping catastrophically low!
❤️ This can lead to all sorts of symptoms like brain fog, menstrual irregularities, mood swings, extreme fatigue and body pain.
❤️If you are a woman in your 30’s, 40’s or 50’s that has been recently diagnosed with autism or ADHD and are wondering what to do now, I’ve created an eBook full of helpful information and resources.
❤️Comment THRIVE to check out my new Ebook, “10 Steps to Thriving After a Late Autism/ADHD Diagnosis” which is on sale now ❤️

😩 For real though!!!!
😩 My life has been a constant struggle to regulate my nervous system, keep myself regulated and try to navigate the world as a a sensitive AuDHDer.
😩I went to university to study Chinese Medicine so I could try to understand myself and learn how to support myself and my unique brain (which I didn’t realise was neurodivergent at the time).
😩Since then I’ve put everything I’ve learnt about neurodiversity in my new little eBook with a bunch of acupressure points and Chinese Medicine lifestyle tips designed especially for overwhelmed ADHD, autistic and AuDHD folks.
😩Comment THRIVE and I’ll send you the link to my eBook which is available to purchase now ❤️

😩 Who else suffers from ADHD paralysis???
😩 Sometimes I will be literally stuck in place with 10 different options of what I should do but no idea how to prioritise one or get started.
😩 To the outside world, it may look like I am relaxing but internally my brain is screaming at me to just “DO SOMETHING”
😩Since my late autism and ADHD diagnosis 3 years ago, I’ve started unpacking exactly why I spent my whole life confused by my brain and I’ve put everything I’ve learnt into my new ebook, “10 Steps to Thriving After Your Late Autism/ADHD Diagnosis” which is on sale now for just $19.
😩 If you want to understand your brain a little bit better and learn to be kind and gentle with yourself I comment THRIVE and get learning ❤️

Hi everyone 👋
✨A few of my posts went mega viral on Facebook over the past few weeks and there are a lot of new faces here so I thought I’d introduce myself.
✨My name is Chloe Stubberfield, I am a Doctor of Chinese Medicine (acupuncture and herbs) and also a late diagnosed AuDHDer (Autism, ADHD) and dog mum (thats Herbie ❤️).
✨As you can tell, I love creating memes but also sharing valuable information on how to support people and their health.
✨I started my business The Which Doctor 7 years ago to help support people with Chinese Medicine. I called myself the Which Doctor because it’s a play on words around using “which type of medicine”.
✨I love combining western diagnostics into my Chinese Medicine treatments and helping support people anyway I can. I practice in Melbourne and Cohuna (Victoria).
✨This amalgamation of western and eastern medicine is how I learnt that I was neurodivergent and how I learnt how to best support my unique brain.
✨Since my diagnosis 3 years ago, I’ve done a deep dive (hyperfocus) into autism and ADHD as well as how Chinese Medicine can help (classic) and I’ve been sharing everything I’ve learn on Instagram.
✨I have been working a LOT with neurodivergent patients and found that I am answering the same questions over and over again so I wrote a little eBook with EVERYTHING I have learnt through my journey.
✨10 Steps to Thriving After Your Late Autism/ADHD Diagnosis is everything I wish I knew before I underwent the process 3 years ago.
✨It’s a combo of self reflection activities, tips, information and resources to help people who are late diagnosed or looking to go down that path.
✨I’ve also got a webinar series on Chinese Medicine and Autism/ADHD that you can bundle with it if you want to learn more.
✨If that’s not your speed, please stick around for more memes, information and resources for you all and I’m working on a way to build a communit for you all ❤️
✨Thank you for being here, all your kind comments and I LOVE the way you are all connecting x
Chloe ❤️

🌈 Ok these might seem super random BUT many people don’t know that there are some very common (and a bit weird) physical symptoms that often show up in neurodivergent folks.
1. Juicy b***y: New research has come out that shows autistic children seemed to having larger backsides. Upon further investigation kids with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) seemed to have a more forward-tilted pelvis while walking, about five degrees more on average, compared to non autistic children. This gives the illusion of a larger “duck butt”.
2. Braces. Many autistic children (and adults) struggle with mouth breathing. This can be due to issues with emotional regulation, allergies that cause nasal congestion and poor quality of sleep. Mouth breathing doesn’t cause ADHD there’s a significant overlap between sleep-disordered breathing and ADHD like symptoms. Over time mouth breathing can cause changes to facial structure, posture and cause teeth overcrowding
3. Many autistic people struggle with MCAS (Mast Cell Activation Syndrome) which is a complex condition that is categorised by the real ease of too many inflammatory chemicals like histamine. This causes an allergic like response throughout the body. Leftover foods are major histamine triggers because bacteria break down proteins over time, increasing histamine levels, especially in meats and fish.
4. Tiptoe walking, or walking on the balls of the feet is common for many autistic people. When I’m tired or stressed, I naturally walk more on the front end of my feet as I find the sensation too strong of having my foot all the way down. This leads to the top of my foot pushing up to the top of the shoe which stretches it out and often wears my shoes out faster.
🌈 Every autistic/ADHD person is unique and has their own physical, social and emotional strengths and challenges, this is in no way diagnostic criteria.
🌈 If you want to learn more about the physical symptoms that often go hand in hand with autism and ADHD, comment THRIVE and I’ll send you the link to my brand new ebook, “10 Steps to Thriving After Your Late Autism/ADHD Diagnosis” which is on sale now for $19 ❤️

🌈 I have so many people who have asked me why I would even bother getting a late autism and ADHD diagnosis in my 30’s because “what’s even the point?” And “it won’t change anything.”
🌈 I get it, it can be really difficult after a lifetime of disappointment, confusion and pain to think that getting a diagnosis as an adult will change anything but for me it certainly did.
🌈 The anger, grief and joy I felt after my diagnosis was an emotional rollercoaster and I didn’t really have an instruction manual on how to navigate that so it was a wild few years.
🌈 The biggest reason it was worth it to me to be diagnosed was that I’ve been far kinder and more accomodating to myself which has been life changing and so healing.
🌈 If you have recently (or not so recently) gone through a late in life autism and/or ADHD diagnosis and are struggling with what to do now, I’ve created a resources just for you.
🌈 My 30 page workbook/ instruction manual/ self care guide is full of nervous system regulation tips, free resources, Chinese Medicine health hacks and gentle self advocacy tools for anyone who doesn’t know what to do next.
🌈My eBook, “10 Steps to Thriving After Your Late Stage Autism/ADHD Diagnosis” is on sale for just $19 and will give you all the information you crave and the love and support you deserve from someone who has been through it all.
