Sailability Victoria

Sailability Victoria We are focused on supporting existing programs and growing participation & increasing opportunites for sailors of all abilities to develop in this sport.

Sailability was established in Australia by the Victorian Yachting Council in 1991. By 2000, Sailability Victoria had been incorporated as a not-for-porfit charitable organisation while countinuing to operate as a committee of Yachting Victoria. At that time Yachting Victoria provide a part-time Sailability Coordinator and a mobile unit of four Acccess (Hansa) Boats an Safety RHIB supporting just four Sailability Programs. Sailability Victoria amalgamated with Sailing for Everyone in 2003, including an additional four programs. From this we have now grown to 24 programs around the State offering sailing experiences to many sailors of all ages, abilities and backgrounds, enabling them to become involved in sailing and their local sailing club.

Well done all the volunteers at Blairgowrie Yacht Squadron. Here’s to a great season 👏👏👏

🫶 Here’s a shoutout to the fabulous Sailability volunteer team (plus some more not pictured). The crew came together yesterday for a season orientation lead by Sailability Coordinator Ian Dalton. We reviewed our season objectives (more people sailing!), brushed up on safety, rigged and checked over our boats, and enjoyed a light wind sail. We also heard from guest speaker Tim Marchington from Purple Soup, who shared some of his experiences working with and being part of our community living with disabilities.
Sailability offers free sailing sessions each Tuesday in Hansa 303s - special boats designed to allow participants with disabilities access to sailing in a supportive environment. Participants don’t need any sailing experience; we provide the boats, lifejackets and a volunteer skipper to sail with you. SAILABILITY

The 2025/6 Hastings Yacht Club Sailability Program will commence on Thursday 9th October, 2025 and fortnightly thereafter. We run our program fortnightly to coincide with the high tide levels in our bay. We welcome all clients between 10 and 10.30AM on the day and sail until about 12.30PM. We also have a pleasure boat in which we take clients for trips around our bay. The Program is free to clients, being supported by our club, and all equipment, including life jackets and safety equipment, is provided by us
