School holidays are a great time to rest, connect, and regather your family forces for term 2.

Dr Paul and Clare’s family hit the prom. Till the weather hit them. A beautiful adventure.

Wishing you all a peaceful school holiday.

This week you may be casting some thoughts forward to prepare your kids for term 2.

We are here if you’d like to prepare their minds and bodies too.

So many people with ‘back problems’ - what can be done?

Back problems are part of modern life for so many. The Australian Institute of Health and Welfare reported that around 4.0 million (16%) Australians were estimated to be living with back problems in 2022.

80-90% of people experience back pain at some point in their lives

They also report that back problems were the THIRD leading cause of disease burden overall.

Are you one of the 16% who lives with back pain? Or the 90% who has experienced it?

Don’t ignore it. We only get one spine. They haven’t invented spine replacement surgery yet.

What we know helps
- move more - can you increase your intensity by 10% this month?
- sitting for backs is like sugar for teeth - get up every 20 mins - even during a movie
- active sitting - if on long drives, squeeze your leg and bum muscles to keep them active, and take regular breaks, even if walking around the car a couple of times before moving on.
- fall in love with your spine - you only get one, so take care of it.

What may help:
- staying hydrated
- eat less inflammatory foods
- managing weight
- reduce smoking
- Find someone to care for it - just like a dentist cares for your teeth.

Want a complimentary chat about how you might be able to take better care of your spine, click on our website link in our bio.

Why Family Tree Health?

Family Tree Health - we dig deeper, to get you better faster.

We are Family Tree.

We are a local husband-and-wife practice, with 4 children, and an excellent team of complementary health care practitioners (our “extended family”), and a commitment to the community.

We offer high-quality, evidence-based healthcare to newborns, babies, school-aged children, and adults through the ages. All offered with caring bed-side manners, because that matters, too.
