Let me tell you about the MyGenea app! IVF treatment can feel overwhelming. Medication schedules, scan dates, results, ongoing treatment plan— it’s a lot. The MyGenea app doesn’t replace communication — it complements it. My patients at appreciate the MyGenea app keeping everything organised. Instead of scrolling through emails or notes, everything is in one place.
When there is so much new information, organisation becomes emotional protection. The MyGenea app gives structure — medication reminders, appointment times, embryo development updates. Less mental noise means more emotional space.

Egg freezing can be a powerful option for women who want to preserve fertility and create more flexibility around timing. As we age, both egg quantity and egg quality naturally decline — and the decline accelerates after age 35.
Egg freezing does not pause time for the body, but it does pause time for the eggs. However, it is important remember: the only true test of egg quality is a successful pregnancy.
There are advantages to freezing eggs earlier — younger eggs generally have a higher chance of developing into embryos in the future. Freezing more eggs can increase the chances of having eggs available that may develop into a pregnancy.

Why “I’ll deal with it later” often feels harder? Many people delay fertility conversations because life is busy, work is demanding, or the idea feels emotionally heavy. “I’ll deal with it later” is a very human response — but later often comes with more pressure and fewer options. Understanding fertility doesn’t mean committing to action. It simply means replacing uncertainty with information. For some, reassurance is enough. For others, it opens the door to proactive planning.
If fertility has been sitting in the background of your mind, now can be the moment to bring it into focus — gently and without judgement.

This beautiful photo is Baby-X — and what a very special arrival. 💛 This family’s journey involved multiple IVF cycles and the heartbreak of early pregnancy losses called biochemical pregnancies. A biochemical pregnancy is one that begins but stops very early — resulting in a positive pregnancy test but soon drops back to negative. They are very common, and understandably distressing for patients experiencing them.
In situations like this, many patients worry that the cause lies within the uterine or maternal environment, and it’s common to request extensive testing or additional “add-on” treatments. While there are circumstances where further investigation or treatment is appropriate, it’s important to understand that a significant proportion of early pregnancy loss relates to embryo chromosomal factors.
In this case, PGT-A (preimplantation genetic testing for aneuploidy of embryos) was used as part of the treatment plan to help identify a chromosomally normal embryo for transfer. Baby-X was the first tested embryo transferred — and meeting him in person when he later visited clinic with his parents was an incredibly special moment.
Wishing this family all the love and joy ahead as they settle into life together. 🍼✨
Every journey is different, and moments like this remind us why patience, science, and perseverance matter.

The lab is where science meets care... and there is also a little magic in the air😉. At Genea Melbourne City, after fertilisation, embryos grow inside specialised incubators designed to mimic the uterus, called the Geri. Embryologists monitor the embryos closely without moving or disturbing them — because stability matters. We give our embryos the best start to life!
Understanding this process helps reduce fear and uncertainty. You don’t need to know every detail — just that your embryos are cared for with precision and respect.

Age affects fertility, but not suddenly — it's gradual and biologically predictable. Egg numbers decline throughout life; what changes around 35 is the speed of decline. Egg quality also decreases with age, which may impact fertilisation and embryo formation and chances of healthy pregnancy.
Testing such as AMH and ultrasound gives insight into reserve and ovarian responsiveness, even if you are not actively trying for pregnancy right now. It is important to remember however, that these test tells us about egg quantity, not quality. There is no true test of fertility except for a successful pregnancy.
Sometimes the first step is simply understanding your body and options so you can plan ahead with confidence.

The Grow app doesn’t replace communication — it complements it. Through the Grow app, my patients are sent photos and videos of the development of their embryos, while they grow... in real time!

It was such a joy to meet beautiful Baby-H in person during her recent clinic visit. 💛 Seeing families return with their little ones is always incredibly special, and I was so thrilled to finally meet her.
Mummy-W’s journey to parenthood was a long one — three years of trying to conceive before seeing me, and two laparoscopies for endometriosis treatment before moving to IVF. Endometriosis is a complex condition that can cause pain and also affect fertility, but the degree of impact varies greatly from woman to woman.
While surgery can be very helpful for managing pain, evidence suggests its benefit for improving fertility outcomes — particularly when IVF is needed — may be more limited. For many women with endometriosis-related infertility, IVF can offer a more direct path forward. That said, IVF itself is still a process, and sometimes it takes more than one cycle.
Moments like meeting Baby-H are a reminder that every journey is different, and careful planning, patience, and support along the way truly matter. Wishing this lovely family so much happiness ahead. 🍼✨

Fertility testing is often the first step toward understanding your fertility health. AMH, semen analysis, and ultrasound scans provide useful insights about ovarian reserve, s***m function, and the uterine environment. Each test adds a piece to the puzzle.
Because no single test gives the full picture, results are best interpreted together by a fertility specialist. This helps create a plan that’s individualised — whether you are trying naturally, thinking about egg freezing, or preparing for IVF.

Just a reminder that exercise isn’t just for physical health—it’s my mental reset too.
Between embryo transfers and patient consults, a sweat sessoin helps me recalibrate.
Consistency > intensity.
Especially when your goal is long-term energy, not just a 6-pack.
If you're going through IVF or trying to conceive, movement is medicine.
Your body isn’t a project to be fixed—it’s a partner to nourish 💪

Melbourne Gynaecologist and Fertility IVF Specialist

Dr Huang is an experienced specialised gynaecologist who has been training or working in the field of gynaecology since 2005. She is committed to women’s health and is dedicated to providing care with compassion and integrity. She started in the field of infertility and IVF in 2010 and continues to offer general gynaecological care as well as fertility treatments to women across Melbourne.

Dr Huang’s clinic includes her professional and friendly reception staff, Katie, who is experienced in administration roles in women’s health. Together, the team understands that care through the clinic is not just about giving medical care. Small things like respecting each of our patients as individuals, treating them with dignity and compassion through their treatments can all make the difference between exceptional and good medical care.

Dr Huang grew up in Taiwan, and moved to Brisbane during primary school. After moving to Melbourne for medical school, she decided to make Melbourne her permanent home when she fell in love with the foodie scene there. Although she is equally as comfortable conversing in English as she is in Mandarin, her culinary preference is definitely Japanese cuisine! In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and watching movies.
