This October, I will be completing the Heart Foundation (Australia), MyMarathon to help support lifesaving heart disease research.
The Heart Foundation has supported our family as Mum has battled it out with heart disease for 27+ years.
This year, Mum is due to undergo valve replacement surgery (I've lost count how many surgeries she's had), the replacement will give Mum another 8-10+ years, at which point, she will require another operation (rinse and repeat).
This operation only a few years ago, would mean Mum undergoing (another) major open heart surgery, as it stands - Mum will be able to have major heart surgery completed through the groin, speeding up recovery time (open heart team on standby!).
As I can't attend appointments with Mum, or be at the hospital. I have decided to sign up for (that should keep me busy for a month!). So while the doctors are busy fixing Mum up, I'll be over here, fundraising for lifesaving research that could continue to support my Mums battle with cardiovascular disease.
What can a donation do?
$50 could pay for nutrient
solution needed
by researchers
to help grow heart cells.
$100 could pay for a DNA
test to help pinpoint
genetic factors
for heart disease.
$500 could cover the cost of
an antibody to detect viral
or bacterial infection
in the heart.
We may be battling a global pandemic but coronary heart disease is and continues to be the the leading cause of death in Australia.
Heart Disease represents 1:5 deaths in Australia
Cardiovascular Disease accounts for 1:4 deaths in Australia
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
I look forward to keeping you posted on my progress!
✌️Peace, 🧡Love, 💃Opa!
