Skin cancer is one of the most common cancers in Australia — but early detection makes all the difference.

When found early, treatment is simpler, recovery is faster, and scars are smaller. In some cases, early skin cancers can even be treated with prescription creams rather than surgery. Certain antioxidants may also help reverse past sun damage and reduce the risk of future cancers.

At Collins St Plastic Surgery, we take the time to discuss every treatment option and tailor care to each patient’s needs.

Thank you, Mr Michael Clarke, for raising awareness about the importance of early skin cancer detection.

☀️ Regular skin checks save lives — and skin.

30 years on after our graduation from the University of Tasmania, some have moved overseas, some were unable to come, and sadly one or two passed away. The majority did make it though which was so amazing. Thank you to those who organised the reunion in Hobart last weekend. Will miss you all and hope we can meet again in five or ten years time.

Secondary Rhinoplasty by Dr Mansoor Mirkazemi

This patient had ongoing breathing and cosmetic concerns after previous nasal surgery by another surgeon, including dorsal irregularity, hump, deviation, nostril flare, and internal valve weakness.

Dr Mirkazemi performed an open approach with restoration of nasal valves, dorsal reduction, septoplasty, and tip refinements to restore balance and function.

The goal was to achieve nasal proportion, stability, and a natural look suited to the patient’s features.

Rhinoplasty can reshape, repair, or reconstruct the nose. It may be considered for structural concerns, breathing difficulties, or changes from injury, conge***al differences.or aesthetic concerns.

Techniques include open or closed approaches, sometimes combined with septoplasty for a deviated septum. The most suitable method depends on individual anatomy and treatment needs.

Results vary, influenced by nasal structure, skin thickness, and healing. In some cases, more than one operation may be required.

Dr Mansoor Mirkazemi, Specialist Plastic Surgeon, has extensive experience in rhinoplasty and focuses on achieving a natural look that suits each individual’s features. In consultation, he will discuss your circumstances, options, risks, and recovery so you can make an informed decision.

August is Alopecia Awareness Month – if hair thinning is a concern, a consultation can help determine whether PRP may be suitable for you.

We Now Offer PRP Treatments.
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) is a treatment that uses a small sample of your own blood. The blood is processed to concentrate the platelets and growth factors, which are then applied to the treatment area under medical guidance.

PRP may be used in:

-Skin treatments to support texture and tone
-Hair restoration for suitable cases of hair thinning
-Certain medical and regenerative applications under professional care

This two-stage breast reconstruction was performed by Dr Mansoor Mirkazemi following a skin-sparing mastectomy. A DIEP flap technique was used, where tissue from the lower abdomen was transferred to the chest and microsurgery was performed to reconnect the blood vessels. Surgical mesh was placed for added support. The second stage involved further refinement to improve shape and symmetry.

This procedure involved the exchange of bilateral breast implants and removal of existing capsules. A total capsulectomy was performed, followed by careful creation of new implant pockets. New 450cc smooth implants were placed in the subpectoral plane, and the surrounding tissues were supported with surgical mesh to help stabilise and shape the result. Meticulous attention was given to both form and comfort. The abdominal area was also addressed for symmetry and contour. This surgery was performed by Dr Mansoor Mirkazemi with a tailored plan to suit the patient’s goals and anatomy.
