Painful periods aren’t a personality trait, they're not normal or something that just has to be "put up with". They’re a signal.
So many menstrual symptoms get brushed off as “just part of being a woman.” But common doesn’t mean normal.
A woman I spoke to recently was getting periods so heavy she was having to change products every hour and hated having to leave the house on the first couple of days of her cycle. She would feel the clots passing, they were so large and heavy. Add to that irritability that feels like Jekyll and Hyde in the lead up and the exhaustion. OMG, it's just so hard to function those few days.
The body speaks through patterns. We want to listen and understand to be able to change this pattern.
Support natural detoxification, bring balance to body (and life), give consistency and care to make this happen.
We need to talk about the microbiome - the gut microbiome. For some clients who come for hormone isssues like heavy periods, constipation before periods, significant mood changes and other PMS issues, sorting out the is actually the beginning.
The digestive system and gut microbiome are how we process and get rid of excess hormones, or help our oestrogen stick around a bit longer (I’m looking at you, beta-glucaronidase!).
It’s why surface level “fixes” rarely hold. We need to sort out the systems that are driving the issues to get things sorted prope and for good.

Hormones respond to the environment they live in.
Stress, sleep, food, connection all shape how the hormonal symphony plays.
The goal isn’t to “fix” hormones. It’s to create conditions where they can harmonise again.
Be curious, not critical. The body always has a reason.
A chance to dive into patterns - those emotional, physical and biochemical patterns that occur and are unique to each person.
Let's restore connection and clarity without the overwhelm.

A client of mine stopped getting bloated when she stopped and ate at the table instead of eating on the run. True story! What a simple solution (ummm mostly it’s not that easy but how exciting for her!)
When meals are rushed, stress hormones rise which puts us into fight flight and stops digestion, absorption and disrupts how our body responds to food.
When we are calm, relaxed during a meal, we digest so much better - our blood sugar is more stable, we don’t crave as much, we feel balanced.
So sit down to eat, talks a breath between bites, focus on chewing well. It’s action that really works ❤️

Fatigue…
I was talking to a client with fatigue recently and we had already made sure she was drinking enough water and eating enough protein, then we needed to look at other aspects of under eating, poor sleep and lots and lots of stress were big factors here. So we made sure she was eating enough and a well balanced meal each time. We addressed her sleep issues and guess what? Her stress reduced - she could cope with the day better and that combined made such a shift in her energy levels (and her life) 🥰

Myth: Soy is problematic for everyone and messes with hormones.
Fact: Soy supports hormones. Especially in peri and post menopause.
Phytoestrogens in soy (like genistein) gently modulate oestrogen receptors — balancing, not overpowering. Studies show moderate soy intake may reduce menopausal symptoms and support heart and bone health.
The fear came from outdated data, not lived experience or up-to-date scientific evidence.
Whole forms like tempeh, tofu, and edamame = allies, not enemies.

Because when “everything looks normal” but it doesn’t feel normal — there’s more to uncover.

Oestrogen encourages a substance called glycogen in vaginal tissue. Glycogen is the preferred food source for Lactobacillus (those pH-protecting heroes).
When levels of oestrogen, and therefore glycogen, fall, balance can shift. This can happen at any time of a woman's life, but is especially noticeable through perimenopause or times of stress.
Supporting oestrogen through food, rest, and emotional safety creates space for stability again.
