✨ End-of-Year Burnout Is Real (and Your Body Feels It)

As the year wraps up, so many women tell me they’re feeling:
😴 Exhausted but can’t switch off
🥴 More irritable, anxious or teary
🍫 Sluggish & Cravings (sugar or caffeine just to get through the day)

This isn’t just “busy season fatigue” — it’s your nervous system and hormones waving the white flag.

When you’re constantly pushing, your stress hormones stay switched on — draining your energy, flattening your mood, and throwing your cycle or sleep off balance.

🌿 Naturopathic tip:
Your body isn’t asking for more willpower — it’s asking for more nourishment and rest.
✨ Protein at breakfast to steady your cortisol
✨ Specific minerals & nutrients that your body depletes when burnt out
✨ Herbal adaptogens to help you cope without crashing

Now’s the time to pause, reset, and refill your cup — so you can finish the year feeling happy & healthy and not burnt out. 💛

The spring racing and festive season are here! 🌸

Great fun but they can also leave your body feeling a little depleted… maybe very. Here are my top tips to help you enjoy the good times and wake up feeling human the next day!
💧Hydrate (properly!):
It’s not just about drinking water — it’s about absorbing it. Add a pinch of sea salt or a squeeze of lemon to each glass to support electrolyte balance and keep your energy steady through long days in the sun.
🍋Support your liver:
Your liver works overtime processing alcohol and rich foods. Show it some love with dandelion, fresh lemon in warm water, and plenty of cruciferous veggies like broccoli, kale, and rocket. Milk thistle is another great herbal ally for gentle detox support.
⚖️Balance & recover:
Before heading out, fuel your body with protein, good fats, and colourful veggies to keep blood sugar stable. After big days, prioritise rest, rehydration, and magnesium (from leafy greens or a supplement) to calm your nervous system and support recovery.
🍎Nurture your gut:
Extra alcohol and indulgent foods can throw off your gut balance. Keep your microbiome happy with probiotic-rich foods like sauerkraut, kefir, or yoghurt, and plenty of fibre from seeds, oats, and veggies. A healthy gut supports your energy, immunity, and mood so you can keep glowing all season long!
✨ Enjoy the celebrations — your body will thank you later!

Collagen is like your body’s natural glue, keeping everything smooth, strong, and glowing from the inside out.
It helps your skin stay bouncy, your hair shiny, and your joints happy as you move through life. Think of it as your daily dose of inside-out beauty support. It also gives your gut a little love by helping to strengthen the digestive lining, which means better nutrient absorption and fewer tummy troubles.
Sip it in your smoothie, stir it in your coffee (like I do), or sneak it into your favorite recipes and you’re fueling your body with the building blocks it needs to stay strong, radiant, and resilient — naturally.
Anytime is a great time to start 💃

Drop the word ‘collagen’ in the comments and I’ll send you my go-to brand 💕

Tired… even after 8 hours of sleep? Plus heavy, draining periods? It’s not just stress, it could be adrenal fatigue and hormonal imbalance.
Your adrenal glands help you respond to stress by releasing cortisol. But when the stress is constant with busy schedules, emotional load, under-eating, late nights, and all the coffee just to keep going your adrenals can become depleted. And when that happens, your whole hormone system feels it.
Chronic stress lowers progesterone, which throws off your hormone balance and leads to estrogen dominance. That’s when the heavy, clotty periods show up. You might also notice breast tenderness, mood swings, PMS, low libido, and cycles that feel harder than they should.
And the fatigue? It’s the kind that sleep doesn’t fix. You wake up tired, crash in the afternoon, and feel wired at night. It’s frustrating but it’s also a message from your body that something’s out of alignment.
The good news is that healing is possible. With the right support targeting nervous system care and hormonal health your body can find balance again.
You don’t have to live in a cycle of exhaustion and heavy periods- this doesn’t have to be your normal🤎

During an appointment, my client shared a moment that shifted her perspective. She had been chatting with a friend who described her period as a form of release. This was like a light bulb moment for her. Until then, my client, like many of her friend had only ever talked about her menstrual cycle as something to dread: physically draining, emotionally taxing, and, frankly, a chore and they all all felt the same way.
But this new point of view opened her mind.
What if menstruation could be seen as more than just physical discomfort? What if, instead, it was understood as the body’s way of shedding not only the uterine lining, but also stress, tension, and emotional weight?
Each cycle could mark not just the end of a phase, but the beginning of another—a kind of biological reset button, offering a chance for renewal and cleansing. A quiet, internal rhythm m.
There’s power in reframing. And sometimes, all it takes is a different conversation to begin seeing your body not as something to battle with—but as something working with you x

🍋Weight loss & stress 🍋.

Ladies, if you’re working on weight loss, don’t overlook stress. When you’re constantly stressed, your body produces more cortisol, a hormone that not only raises blood sugar but can also make it harder to burn fat, especially around the belly. Over time, this can stall progress and affect your metabolism.

Managing stress isn’t just self-care it’s a key part of sustainable weight loss and hormone balance.

Are your allergies actually hormonal?

Many women I work with experience histamine symptoms that flare before their period or mid-cycle and it’s often tied to estrogen dominance.

When estrogen is high and progesterone is low, histamine can spiral causing symptoms like rashes, congestion, anxiety, and headaches.

💗The good news is with the right support (gut, liver, food, and lifestyle), both hormones and histamine can come back into balance.

What is your gut trying to tell you!?
You can be often told that you have IBS but this is a very broad and general term describing a bunch of symptoms and not exploring the full picture.

Let go deeper:

🤎SIBO (Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth) happens when there is an overgrowth of bacteria where they shouldn’t be. It often causes bloating after eating, especially with carbs and fiber, along with constipation or diarrhea, brain fog, and fatigue. This can be tested with a SIBO breath test using lactulose or glucose.

🤎Gut dysbiosis is an imbalance in gut bacteria characterized by low diversity or overgrowth of harmful microbes. It can be triggered by stress, antibiotics, or a poor diet. Symptoms often include bloating, irregular stools, skin flare-ups, and low mood. Testing options include GI-MAP, stool tests, or can be inferred from history and symptoms.

🤎Food sensitivities or intolerances are often overlooked, especially sensitivities to histamine, gluten, dairy, or FODMAPs. These are not always allergies but rather your gut not tolerating certain foods, and they can be temporary while your gut heals.

🤎Stress and nervous system dysregulation play a huge role, as chronic stress alters gut motility, enzyme release, and the microbiome. The gut-brain axis is deeply involved, and this is often missed unless anxiety, trauma, or burnout are explored.

🤎Hormonal gut issues, especially in women, occur because shifts in estrogen and progesterone affect the gut. For example, PMS diarrhea, ovulation bloating, or constipation around your period can all be hormonal.

Our gut microbiome changes. You could be doing the exact same things you did years ago but now you are experiencing gut issues. Or you could be experiencing the same symptoms for years and years and it’s time to sort it out. Lets do some microbiome gut testing and get you on the right protocol to heal your gut.

🌿 From a Naturopath’s Perspective 🌿
Healing is rarely quick and almost never a straight line.
It’s a process. Sometimes slow. Frustrating. Often layered.
As a Naturopath, I support people through a wide range of health challenges from gut issues and fatigue to hormone imbalances, stress, and inflammation. And I want to share this:
🌱Healing takes time.
🌱It often means unlearning old habits.
🌱It requires consistency — not perfection.
🌱And it’s okay to have setbacks.
There’s no one-size-fits-all approach. What works for one person may not work for another. That’s why I focus on getting to the root cause, supporting the body’s natural ability to restore balance and understanding where you are at.
If you’re in the middle of your healing journey, remember:
You’re recalibrating. Recovering. Your body is working for you. I have to remind myself regularly of this too!

Remember you don’t have to figure it out alone.

🌺 Heavy, Painful, Clotty Periods? Let’s Talk.

If your period feels like a monthly battle withheavy flow, intense cramps, and large clots — your body may be trying to tell you something.
From a naturopathic perspective, we often look deeper at hormone balance, liver health, and inflammation. Here are a few key root causes:
🎀Estrogen Dominance – Too much estrogen (or too little progesterone) can lead to heavy bleeding and clotting.
🎀Liver Overload – Your liver helps process hormones. When it’s sluggish, estrogen can build up.
🎀Inflammation & Prostaglandins – High inflammation can make cramps worse and periods heavier.
🎀Iron Deficiency – Often a result of heavy periods, but low iron can also worsen fatigue and increase bleeding.

Some options I would consider:
✔ Support your liver with herbs
✔ Reduce inflammatory foods
✔ Eat brassica veggies to help detox oestrogen 🥦
✔ Consider magnesium, vitamin complex or herbal tonic for hormone support (all depending on what you need to support you)

Let’s not normalise painful, exhausting periods. There are so many effective ways to support you cycle for this not to be your every month.
