Vision Australia is looking for people to feature in an upcoming video series highlighting simple changes that may support families in adjusting to blindness or low vision. This is a paid opportunity for a day’s worth of filming on Wednesday 11 February. In Camberwell, Victoria.

We are seeking two pairs of people that each include one person with lived experience of blindness or low vision, and a family member or partner who has supported them in their vision loss journey. All people will be featured in the videos and will be asked to play a role in creating this video series.

Chosen participants will act out scenarios developed from real insights, directed by a videographer. No acting experience is required but would be beneficial.

If you’re interested, please contact us with a brief introduction about yourselves and your connection to blindness or low vision by sending an email to media@visionaustralia.org.

Please note that based on the volume of applications received, only shortlisted candidates may be contacted.

Tony Clark's recent election as mayor of Hepburn Shire Council is an amazing example of why people living with disability shouldn’t be prevented from holding positions of leadership and part of the decision-making process that shapes their community.

Placing someone with lived experience of disability in such a role is exceedingly rare but an incredibly positive step in Australian politics.

For Sean, the Vision Australia woodworking program was more than a place to explore his passion, it was a place where he could turn his raw passion into purpose and be seen not for his disability but for his skill, creativity, and drive..

"I get to be in a beautiful and unique position of working closely with families, becoming a support person and helping people grow their confidence. Not a lot of jobs offer this, and for that I am really grateful."

“As reading was one of my favourite past times, I was devastated when I could longer read the written word, but being able to access all the audio books has really helped me to survive some very challenging times”.

At the Vision Australia Library, you can access thousands of titles across a wide number of formats including audiobooks, braille and large print.

The Vision Australia Library exists for anyone who needs it, older Australians, young children, new parents, and everyone in between.
