Mountain Pilates was created by founder Jeanette Tatton from a desire for everyone to be able to move painfree and walk taller and with ease. Our aim is to be able to provide an approachable, comfortable space for all to feel as though they can reach their desired goals regardless of the condition or age of their bodies/minds. We have created a purpose built studio in one of the worlds most picturesque places to live - Monbulk, Mt Dandenong. We offer classes in -

We started at our home.
Classes ran from our basement.

Kids played upstairs.
And FREE childcare was offered — from tiny six-week-old babies right through to preschoolers.

It didn’t matter how many children you had.
It didn’t change the price.
What mattered was that parents could show up for themselves.

Movement, connection, and care — all under one roof.

From the very beginning, Mountain Pilates was built around real life. Around families. Around community. Around making space for people to move, be supported, and belong.

That spirit of support, inclusion, and real-life care is still at the heart of everything we do at Mountain Pilates today 💚

Meet Sharlene 💚 – the newest addition to our Mountain Pilates teaching team.

Sharlene’s Pilates journey began in 2016, not from a place of fitness goals, but from a need to support her body through ongoing back and hip issues. With professional guidance and consistent practice, she felt her body change – building strength, moving with more ease, and becoming pain-free.

What stayed with her most was how Pilates gave her confidence again – not just in her body, but in life. As a mum of two, it allowed her to move, play, and show up fully for her family.

That personal transformation is what led Sharlene to teaching. She brings a thoughtful, supportive, and empowering approach to every class.

You can join Sharlene in the studio from February:

Our live virtual classes are coming to an end after five incredible years.

What started during COVID as a way to support our community through uncertainty grew into a much-loved offering, made possible by some truly wonderful teachers. We're incredibly grateful for the care, creativity, and diversity they brought to every class.

We want to extend our sincere love and heartfelt thanks to Jess and Angelyn for their years of impressive classes, unwavering support, and dedication. Their energy, passion, and commitment have meant so much to our community, and we're deeply thankful for everything they've shared along the way.

As we move forward, we're focusing our energy fully on what our community thrives on most — in-studio movement, in-person connection, and shared experiences.

Our 2026 timetable is now live, filled with beautiful studio classes, community yoga, Pilates in the Park, Over-50s offerings, workshops, and retreats — all designed to bring people together and support long-term health and wellbeing.

There’s a reason our stretch class is always so popular with our members.

This class is about gently waking up your body and brain. Not forcing, not pushing. Just easing yourself into movement through breath, stretch, and soft Pilates-based work.

You arrive feeling a little stiff, a little foggy.
You leave feeling taller, lighter, clearer. Like your body has remembered itself again.

Stretch isn’t an “extra.”
It’s what helps your nervous system settle, your joints feel supported, and your body move more freely through everyday life.

Mountain Pilates began long before there was a studio, a timetable, or a name.

It began with a feeling.

At 19, while training in classical ballet, I found Pilates through conditioning. But the first time I moved on a reformer, something changed. I felt a deep, almost indescribable sense of calm and connection in my body – like I’d tapped into something I didn’t even know I was looking for.

I trained alongside Sarah Colquhoun () of Pilates Obsession and soaked up everything I could. I was learning, absorbing, practising – but it wasn’t the right moment yet to teach.

It wasn’t until I was pregnant with my first son that everything clicked. That’s when I began teaching Pilates – and Mountain Pilates was born.

As we celebrate 15 years of MP, I want to honour the journey that brought us here and created this amazing community.

It’s not about pushing harder or doing more. It’s about building deep, intelligent strength that supports your posture, joints, and long-term mobility.

In our Mat Pilates classes, we focus on controlled, mindful movement that strengthens the body while improving flexibility, balance, and body awareness. You’ll learn how to move with purpose, control, and ease — creating a body that feels strong, supported, and free.

If you’re new to Mountain Pilates, Mat is a beautiful place to begin. These classes teach the foundations of Pilates in a supportive, accessible way, helping you build confidence and a deeper connection with your body.
